Comments (18)Funny, funkyart, my house is a 1960's colonial...but I always wanted that old farmhouse. So we ripped out all (ALL) the wimpy moulding and baseboards throughout the house and replaced it with wide/substantial trim, Added hardwood throughout, and did everything we could to revamp the style. It's more of a colonial revival look throughout---with schoolhouse pendants, pedestal sink in the 1/2 bath etc. I bet you could make this work in your room too! I will post some pictures of the inside of the closet tonight so you can get a better idea of how big, and the layout etc. Pretty much, it is a wide reach-in. Not quite walk in closet, although it is big enough to walk into etc. just not to hang clothing on both sides. The entire closet is open, but closed off by the 3 sets of doors. 2 sets of the doors hold my clothes, and dh has one. Shoe cubbies fit on both ends (which may be may favorite part of the whole thing---Dh built them to fit shoes and purses.) The closet system is from Lowes, and I highly recommend it. You can customize it however you like and it really looks more $ than it is. We had priced out California Closets, and their bottom of the line style was almost triple the cost of these... and these are much nicer looking. If you can DIY, they are the way to go. Comments (40)As far as style goes, I like the idea of things that are reminiscent of the original style but still updated. You don't have to keep things "period appropriate" if that's not what you like, but design often works better when you keep the original in mind. I think that your ideas are fine but could be a little more unique, have a little more interest to them. What do you like about the original design, or about 70's-esque design in general? Or what do you hate? I really like how this bathroom reads as retro but not outdated. The little vintage accents - especially that owl - add a cool touch, too. I don't really like the idea of a gray floor tile in this bathroom, unless you're wanting to go a lot more modern with it all. What about something like this if you wanted to reference back to the blue? Or go with 70's inspired neutrals, more brown/gold than gray. Good luck!...See MoreFloor Plan Advice/Help - MasterBed too big, MasterBath too small?
Comments (4)To me, the floorpan seems to make sense as it is. You could extend the bath slightly into the bedroom to give you a longer countertop space, about where the wall of bedroom2 runs, but you need to know if that works with your bedroom furniture. You could also slide the shower over to the back part of your closet, accessed from the shorter end, to slide to toilet down and have more countertop. It depends on your priorities....See MoreMaster Bath - Before and After
Comments (14)I'm sorry everyone - I'm not seeing how to reply to each comment individually. So here's an update on a few items/questions asked: - Shower Size: 5' X 5'. What a change from that little 40" wide shower. We are loving the space so much. I thought I might have allocated too much space - but I'm glad I did! Moving the toilet to the old tub area is how I got all the extra room for the new shower. - Shower Glass Panel - no door: The shower is zero entry with only a 34" glass panel - no door. I didn't want anything to obstruct the view of that beautiful tile. The glass panel just fades away and it looks like the shower doesn't have any separation. The opening is just approx. 25" and water DOES NOT splashes out. I squeezee the bottom area of the glass panel at the end of each shower. Everyone tried to talk me into a full panel/door but I didn't agree. However, I did agree to have the glass panel installed in a manner that I could add a header later for a door in case they turned out to be right. But we are very with our decision to only have the panel. - I'll post an image of the toilet room and the wall opposite the shower fixture wall so you can see the niche. I went big on that too. :-)...See MoreM Butler
