First bloom today…..

last year

Very few daylilies blooming here…..I dont expect any rebloom. Olfactory Evidence had its first flower today, second full season here.

i also have an unidentified first bloomer this week. I know its registered but have NO clue what it is…..any guesses?

A small rose of sharon is blooming this week.

It is always nice to get a first bloom in August! I don't know what your NOID is, but it is pretty.

Olfactory Evidence is a very late bloomer. I like your NOID, although I have no idea what it is. Did your Last Chance for Romance ever bloom? I remember you were waiting and waiting on it last year.

The plant is about two feet tall and the flower is a bit over three inches across. Once the seedlings grew a bit I pricked them out and put them in a gallon pot, then, a couple months ago, I planted them in the ground and noticed that they had formed tubers. I have another plant that is going to bloom in a few days. The seed pack said any dahlias were "ayrlies" or "clarion" hybrids ... I can't find anything on the "ayrlies", but the "clarions" have dark foliage and single yellow flowers, so I assume this must be a "clarion" hybrid.

Thank you Debra.Wisest of Wizards surprised me today, as I wasn't expecting a bloom on it for a few more days.I was expecting Happy Face today , as it was starting to open just a little just before dark last night,when I went out to bring in my bird feeder. I have a little more expensive bird seed in my new feeder and I I leave it out, the raccoons tear the roof off it and scatter seeds all over the ground, after the nuts and big sunflower seeds in it,and I refuse to feed raccoons.I had thought it was squirrels after it,and I took it and hid it on the front porch, but the next morning the roof was took off and seeds scattered all over and I knew that was no squirrel doing that.just the nuts in the mix was gone.squirrels like the large sunflower seeds, too.and a squirrel would not have drug that heavy feeder that far either,and get the roof off it.. Thank you everyone! Yes I think I'm really going to like Zaide, Judy. Dianne, this hasn't been the greatest year for beautiful blooms for my roses, so some of the pictures I've posted are not a good representation of what that particular variety generally looks like. Here are some examples of PERFUME DELIGHT and PINK PEACE. The first picture is Perfume Delight. The second picture is Pink Peace. While their colors are similar, usually their appearance is quite different, however they both have a wonderful fragrance. Perfume Delight bush has an upright growth and Pink Peace is shorter and wider, at least that's how mine grow. Love them both, but if I could only have one it would be Pink Peace.

Your noid is pretty. I hope you can ID it. That rose of sharon bloom has such a pretty red eye. I have a similar one (whose name escapes me!!) but the eye has a more pinkish red tint.

Found it!! It is called Red Heart rose of sharon.

Just wondering - Could the NOID be what you thought was Last Chance for Romance? You never actually saw Last Chance bloom. The NOID kind of looks like some of Woodhenge's later blooming purple UFs - maybe Purple Architecture?

Nice to see a first bloom this time of year. The NOID is pretty and no idea what it could be. I like the bloom on your Rose Of Sharon bush. Do you remember the name of it? Mine have been blooming for a couple of weeks now. They are the typical purple ones.

Julia, I dont remember the name of the Rose of Sharon, it is a compact variety. My other common Rose of Sharon has been blooming for awhile , this one is always later to start.
