Help decorating
Assumed wife would decorate but after 8 years of marriage our house still looks like we just moved in. I can paint and install fixtures but am clueless on how to decorate. Any suggestions for our living room?

I also think it would be well worth consulting with an interior designer who can come in, see the space, measure, get info on your likes/dislikes, see how you live, see the rest of the house, etc.
We all like different styles. My vision for your room would be a bit rustic.

If possible, I’d remove the white surround on the FP and replace with just a mantel:
I’d find art I like, a heftier table lamp, find pillows, an ottoman or coffee table. I think the room would look nice painted … still a light color, but in a warm tone.Example of heavier lamp:
All that said, you and your wife might hate this look, I don’t know. The room (is it a basement room?) is such a blank slate, there are so many directions you could go. That’s why I’d call in a pro to come consult.Good luck!

Comments (4)We need a little more info but first IMO you need some sort of heat and light blocking so solar shades would be a nice choice and a floor plan with as much detail as possible like the measurements of all the spaces and doorways for sure . Comments (14)Small tweaks are all that is needed here. I really like the current layout. It feels spacious, easy to enter in to. The bed is pretty massive and needs to be on a big wall, where it is. It also really anchors the accent wall paper. Just pull it out from the wall about 5”. Hang the curtains wider on the wall and straight down. Tall plant feels trapped in the corner. Remove the blue chairs from the room. Place big plant there instead. Move the little pouff table next to the day bed to rest a drink or phone on when you lounge. How often do you work from that desk and is the chair good for your back? It really doesn’t look bad and I’d consider back comfort first. Remove objects above closet. Comments (7)The corner will be where I have my devotions and so maybe some plants hanging,some art on the grey wall and a hanging lamp in the left corner something on the window sill. The window sill is extra wide cause we did super form for the walls so a little glimpse of what I’m thinking of. There’s lots space in our room for me to do yoga but I don’t think I’ll have any exercise stuff in our room. The window in the corner has a very gorgeous view to the north so just feel like the corner should just be a cozy relaxing vibe but I don’t have a clue what style I should go with. I have a cute oval gold mirror that I got in a grab box at Christmas that I can post below that thought could go somewhere in the corner....See More
