Odd Tiny Windows- How to Style
Comments (26)@BeverlyFLADeziner Thank you- I knew something bothered me about the room the way they staged it to sell but I could not figure out what it was. I appreciate all the comments and ideas! I had thought of possibly adding beams in here to the ceiling! I’m trying to figure out the best shape/style of chandelier for this room. The foyer/entry light, a more wide/beefy one where they have the dining room table (but hung higher so we can walk under it as we won’t have a table under it), and I will need to coordinate with a new dining table light fixture in the kitchen/dining area that is visible from this room. I think a dark finish would look best. Front door faces to the west I believe but window is somewhat shaded from a tree/shrub in the front yard. This room will be our music room/library/company visiting room. I have a couch I will center between the two square windows as part of the seating area. I have several tall bookcases I would like work into this room (one is shown in photos of our current living room)- they all match. I plan on removing the staged dining table and putting our piano on the wall where the dining area is located currently and using the area for our music stand and string instruments, sheet music/books....See MoreHow would you style this vase?
Comments (5)I love that vase but it’s not right for the table i think. it wants to sit on a simple mantle or square side table. Can you use it somewhere else? i think a longer but not too heavy branch would look amazing in it, maybe only in one of the openings....See MoreHow would you style these rooms with rugs? Need advice!
Comments (8)I would definitely get monochromatic rug for the entry. You might just go to a carpeting store and see if they have a remnant in one of those colors that is there now. You could have it cut and bound to the size you want. It would be easier than trying to find such a rug already made. For your living room, I would definitely choose a patterned rug that brings in some of those blue/greens that we see in the picture. I don't think the kilim rug will be luxe enough for you, according to what you're saying. Make sure the rug is as large as you can afford it to be - Certainly larger than it is now. That will help cozy up the room....See MoreHow to style this entry/hallway?
Comments (15)Looking at your ideabook, I would say your style is more transitional. You need to take into consideration that there are some black finishes in the space. If you want to change all of that out, fine. But you can't ignore it. The focal point is the fireplace. I recommend a semi-flush mount for your hallway, a rug. You can keep the fan in the living room. YOu mentioned you want a light fixture. That is possible, if you want one, but it is also going to be a semi-flush mount. You really don't want it hanging in front of the artwork or competing with the hallway lighting. Be careful about any art along the hallway. It need to be low in contrast or mirrors. You cannot view it from a distance as you can the fireplace art....See MoreFlo Mangan
