It is a brand new range and it clicks and ignites but we cannot get the burner to maintain the flame. Any suggestions or tricks?

I've had great luck with cleaning by sticking a very thin brush or skewer down the hole in the center where the gas comes up and cleaning all of the little indentations around the burner under the cap. Also, I've taken the hose of my vacuum cleaner and held it directly on top of the opening to get the debris out. Hope it works for you!
