Spain in July - never again!

I just returned from 2 weeks in Barcelona. I will never again curse humidity. It gives us greenery, flowers, butterflies... all summer (and year) long. None of this in the Mediterranean climate. Just heat. A "Park" on the map is dry, dusty (Saharan dust?), grey-green leaves on trees/plants in reddish sand.

These 2 photos were all I saw of plants I liked. They are in the (dry) park across from La Sagrada Familia, the awesome (and well air-conditioned - yea!) cathedral by Gaudi with towers still under construction.

Lion's paw - wondering WHERE IN FLORIDA these are grown successfully (need cool winter?)
