Comments (6)When the main season was over, my brother would untie the indeterminate vines. Let them fall, pin the top of the main stalk to the ground and, cover the pinned portion with some soil. When the "new" top sprouted and rooted anew, he would cut the "old" plant away. This technique produced a terrific fall crop for him, for many years. Comments (2)I have 12 Estler ML plants and they are loaded with fruit 1 lb or more. Ate some Brandy Boy and Sunny Boy this morning on egg and bacon sandwiches...mmmmmm. The Mortgage Lifters are starting to ripen also..they are my favorite tomato so far. Garden tomatoes are a delicasy in my book, right up there with deep fried oysters or Rainier Cherries. I also have a loaded Cherokee Purple in a big plastic tote and am anxious to taste it. I am doing container stuff for the first time and have never tasted CP....See MoreFirst Tomato of the Winter Season
Comments (10)Garf-you are miles ahead of me this season. A knee fracture this summer set me back. My bush champion has some tomatoes at your size(I bought the plant) but all else I have are just seedlings so far: Black Cherry, Green Zebra, Yellow Pear, Dr. Carolyn, Galina Cherry, Husky Red(not cherry), Campari, Snow White, Goose Creek, Golden Dwarf Champion. Can you tell I like the cherry and smaller sized fruit? Hubby is finishing the rebuild on my pergola so I should have room for containers out of the wind this winter. Keep posting pics!...See Morearcy_gw
