Does this piece of art work in my room (w/pics)?
Comments (55)I love the first and last stripe! I like the way the line draws your eye up and the last one is simple enough to not compete with the rug or the armoire. the one I picked was tough; there were so many that had your colors in them at Horchow! That one seemed to go more with your rug (which looked red, gold and brown on my monitor!)because it didn't have any green, but in the end I was thinking it had a subtlety that might work. having all of the colors represented is probably your best bet, though- it definitely brings your eye all the way around the room in a nice way. IMHO, you can't make your walls look too tall. Drawing the eye up is almost always a great thing. And I think some height will balance out the weight of the armoire as well. but only you can see how things look in person! clearly you have great taste!...See Morewhere do you buy your wall art/decor?
Comments (35)I like allposters.com, though when you order something online you don't really know what it's going to look like until you see it in person. I got this at allposters.com a couple of years ago. I was a little disappointed in the frame but I can live with it. They would not allow me to crop the title and the artist name from this particular print, although they will allow it for others... depends upon copyright limitations, I guess. I've never looked for art on Craig's List, but I wonder if that might also be a possibility?...See MoreWhat do you think of this piece of art for FP?
Comments (63)The trees are dull up there-- that's it! What I couldn't articulate.. I've put the chair in my bedroom & really like it in there with the double matted Audubon in there now, Snookums. I'll get another shot. Junco, here is a pic I played around with adding the sconces. I would have to hang the picture to get more height & hopefully more presence. Olychick, hate dogs?!? I do see that the dogs don't have quite the presence that big bird has. Shee, I agree about the tree picture. It's a filler, not statement piece. Thank you Elizabethpa & pattixlynn- I'm glad y'all like them!! Im trying to work with what I have & not buy something just to fill a place. I would like to find something else for the FP, maybe another big Audubon- but having a party next weekend & can't have blank FP. I don't think my sconces will be here in time for the party:(...See MoreDo you change out your artwork as the seasons change?
Comments (16)I change up a large painting in my living room, from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter, My mother inherited an original oil painting, from a friend of hers who was a very talented artist. I in turn, inherited it from her. It's a painting of the artist's log cabin and surrounding property in Vermont. He painted it in the late afternoon in Winter. The sky is crimson and full of clouds of varying shades. The cabin is covered in snow and violet smoke is coming from the chimney. The trees and field are also snow covered, so this painting captures the beauty and essence of Winter. I also have an oil painting of a beautiful scene in Summer. It is of a terra cotta terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, with large pots of vividly colored flowers, and Wisteria hanging from the arched roof. A hilly coastline, which is dotted with white houses with tile roofs is in the distance. It's very colorful and makes me feel like I'm in a little villa in Greece, whenever I look at it. As I only have room to display one in my living room, I display the Summer painting every April and change it to the Winter one every October. I hang the 'off season' painting in my bedroom, so it can still be enjoyed!...See Moreakimberleyew
