How wide is your room? I mean from the couch wall to the wall facing it? One thing you could do, if there is enough width, is move the couch out from the wall and to the left as far as you want just covering part of the radiator - treat it just like part of the wall. Then center the couch where you want it You could put a sofa table behind the couch next to the radiator cover, so it's not hanging out with an empty space behind it, then add your art. You also could put a decent size lamp on the sofa table with other accessories and just leave the wall lights off.

I don't think plantation shutters would help. Hang roman shades at the same height such that the bottom hides the top molding of the windows and then no one will know they're not the same height. Make sure the shades are blackout lined so there's no light coming through to expose the difference.
