Bpath, try Julia Child's recipe for Supremes. It is our favorite recipe. I had a nice call from our daughter in Texas the other day. I don't know when we have had such a leisurely chat. She usually calls as she is driving somewhere, and the call tends to be the duration of that drive. Since she lives in a small suburb of Ft Worth, 3 or 4 minutes would be it. Now she called, and one of the first things she said is how much she is enjoying the Covid 19 shut in. She says she has done projects around the house that she has put off, especially organizing all the china and silver plates and platters in their recently constructed china cabinets in their dining room. She inherited china and old silver platters and plates from her DHs family. Now she can actually use them. She has joined the boys in reading their online lessons and work sheets and likes that she fully understands what they are learning in 4th and 7th grade for a change. She is enjoying the leisurely family time such as family bike rides in their little suburb, gardening, and seeing the kids fish in their pond. And she laughs that she is the only one of her friends who does not have roots showing as she has always done her own highlighting. She recently gave her DH a hair cut, and he said he liked the results. They have always cut the boys' hair, but this was another first. She just loves the quiet family time and the break from the usual rat race pace.

I removed my comment after sushipup posted but it was about what people did or did not find useful this past year. It is always difficult to look ahead to see what is needed because often the small things that are of the most help are overlooked. It would be interesting to see what changes in looking back at this past year and a almost half what people found most useful.

Not wearing liquid makeup everyday, closing my office that is $2000 a month and looking for a new one that is less money, foregoing 1/2 my workout as not having nautilus machines at the gym makes working out harder, eating far more ice cream and homemade bread than I did before, missing my outings with friends. We have gone to Arizona and will again for Labor Day Weekend for haircuts :) I’ve never been so meticulous about wiping down my keys, doorknob of the car, credit card than ever before. We’ve not been sick and I’m grateful.

Our kitchen renovation isn't complete yet, but so excited to say that, after nearly three years, our Lacanche has finally arrived and been installed! Long story short, we ended up scrapping plans for our renovation/rebuilding project and bought another place instead. Since the kitchen at the new place was mostly done, we just switched out the existing stove with a Lacanche, meaning that we only had enough space for a 36" range. Thankfully, the Vougeot hadn't been produced yet, so French Barn was kind enough to change our order to a lovely little Beaune. Even at 36 inches, it's a LOT more space than I'm used to. We went with anthracite instead of armor, since it's a better match for our color scheme. After all the wrangling about gas and electric ovens, we went with two electric ovens in the Beaune and I'm very happy about that. The range we just replaced was an all-gas Bertazzoni, and after using it for a few months, I have realized that I am just a lot more comfortable cooking with electric than gas. We still added a Miele CSO XXL to our setup, since I like precise temperature controls and was a bit hesitant about only having two traditional (i.e., non high-tech) ovens. This means we now have oven space galore. I love the flexibility of the Beaune. The Cluny oven is the only one of the three that can squeeze in a half-sheet pan, but we have accumulated a lot of quarter-sheet and jelly roll pans to use in the other two ovens. The vertical convection oven is really capacious, and it goes low enough for me to use as a warming cabinet for food (based on my oven thermometer, it actually gets down to 100 degrees or so, although perhaps not as reliably as a true warming cabinet), while still being able to broil and roast at high temps. I'm looking forward to experimenting with more slow cooking in that oven, since I no longer have to worry about tying up an oven for a single long-use.
