Had to take more...and two additions
Comments (6)MBug, that is the most beautiful Blue Cadet I EVER SAW. I had no idea the color could effervesce like that, blushing a nice chartreuse with the blue....one of my favorite pair of Crayolas to use in coloring books as a child. It still appeals to me. And that is to say nothing of the rest of your pictures. I can only go back to taking it all in. What a treat....thanks for showing them. Edited to add: Blue Cadet could not give such an effect were it not for the presence of August Moon-- it provides the punch to highlight the chartreuse in Blue Cadet. The magic would disappear if they were separated. Edited again to add: And on third look, the conifer with new chartreuse growth, counterpoint to its blue green form, that helps too. If you did that arrangement--or even if you happened upon it and recognized it as so perfect--it is an absolutely perfect example of classy gardening. Plus it is a great shot. Comments (8)I know what you mean. One suggestion people always give is to create an folder of kitchens you like a lot (from magazines, online, wherever). Well, I did that. I had everything from cottage to modern to steampunk to industrial to eclectic to what is it/I have no idea. I had colors, I had no colors. OK, let's narrow it down. Well, that helped a bit but not much. I'm all over the place, too. Awhile back, we had a discussion where someone posted their most favorite kitchens and asked people to help them assess them. It was quite interesting as people picked up elements I wouldn't have considered. I don't recall them but it would have been things like, for example, all the kitchens have an island without a sink and all have light wood floors and all have mixed metals. It was those little things that tied them together, not the style itself. You might see if you can find it. I don't recall what was called. Sorry. You might also post photos in another discussion here to see if you get helpful analysis. I'm skeptical that someone who loves color so much would really be happy having a room with little color. I also think it would seem incongruent in your home, making it feel off-balanced. Of course, you could have wood-tone floors/cabinets or some other neutral but I'm guessing you'd be happier in a kitchen where at least the backsplash and other decor were able to be colorful. I wish I was more actual help. BTW, I love the fact that you have bright yellow/purple/chartreuse rooms. It's so fun!...See Morewell,Camera worked for me to take 4 more photos today
Comments (7)Glad you found China Bride! It's a pretty one, and I remember you've taken lots of photos of it over the years. Moonlit Masquerade is looking good. Is it on rebloom? Mine had so few buds it's already finished blooming. The portulaca pot is so colorful! Do those take the heat well? I've never grown them, but my mom always has some in her garden. Comments (8)back in the day.. peeps with good cameras.. actually carried light meters so as to properly set the camera for pix ... and in discussing such with them.. of which i retained nothing.. lol ... i was surprised how bright the camera would 'see' .. as compared to you or me.. walking from sun to shade ... ever walk in a store on a sunny day .. and until your eyes adjust.. you cant see much of anything ... it would be the same effect ... with your bare eyes.. looking at this shade ... you just cant see the light level ... also.. back in the day.. i had glasses that darkened in sun ... and i had the same effect.. when i walked into a deep shade garden.. couldnt see anything .. but eventually the glasses lightened.. and it all came clear.. that was a deep shade garden ... but some of the best national hosta tour gardens i have ever been in ... the glasses never lightened.. because.. though there was dappled shade.. it was so bright.. that my glasses never lightened ... i think ... when you read 'shade' .. you have some preconceptions of what shade means ... and.. for the most part ... its not what you think ... full sun.. is basically anything over 8 hours.. in a given day ... so as noted on your pic.. thought those plants might be in mid day shade.. they most likely.. get more than the requisite 8 hours.. to actually be considered in full sun ... as those plants require ... to perform optimally ... ken ps: also understand.. that many.. if not most plants labeled as shade.. are only just shade tolerant ... and do just fine in sun ... and if they have problems.. its not the sun issue.. but other variables ... e.g. hosta are shade tolerant.. but can grow like weeds in sun ... but they sweat.. give off water also ... so in too much sun.. in the heat of the day.. they can burn ... when they give off more water than they can process ... but next year.. because of more vigorous root growth due to the sun ..... they will be a larger plant ... but they will be ugly as heck.. by late july/august ......See MoreJAN MOYER
