Looking for photos of electric outlets in wood stained island
Comments (7)If you're putting in a triple-gang box with 3 receptacles, or 3 singles, should be no problem to find dark brown receptacles and you can stain wooden covers. I have a dropped center island so I put Plugmold, almond color since our walls are that color and couldn't find anything close to oak or my gray Formica. But it's pretty much hidden under the overhang. My trim carpenter (cousin, he's awesome) added a strip of oak underneath the Plugmold where there was a gap after countertop installed (he also did the upside-down "L" shaped pieces to hide the unfinished sides of the taller corner cabinets where they showed around the dropped center cabinet....See MoreLooking for Some Creative Ideas for 'Temporary' Screen Porch
Comments (8)Why not a shade sail with a gauzy fabric that would be rolled up most of the time but could be unrolled and tied down when you will be out? In my experience, the problem with temporary gazebos is that they fall apart in the wind. You would have a secondary issue that the shade sail is not engineered to hold the weight of the screen plus the wind the screen walls catch, so it would have to be a light fabric whatever you use (and again, I would suggest something you can roll up). I am going to be adding some cheesecloth-like fabric (not sure what I will use yet, maybe even old lace curtains, thinking "shabby chic") to my victorian kitchen porch so we can sit on it-it will add shade and bug protection. But I will do it so that I can roll it up into the roof if the wind is bad. We had one of those $300 gazebos (I think it was 10x10 or 12x12 when we lived in Illinois and it barely lasted the season before the wind sheared it. I think it was aluminum. Also, have you looked into solar fan options?...See Moreunsightly electrical cords on my new screen porch!!
Comments (2)I hope the wire is temp. Not permanent. If it is your contractor is a hack. It should be ran in conduit. If it was my house it would be inside the wall not exposed at all. Good luck!...See MoreNeed help to make screen porch and deck more inviting
Comments (23)First, you are so luck to have such a wonderful getaway vacation home! It is on a beautiful lot. I agree with missymoo as well, and also what Olychick said. Something about that table smack dab in the middle of the room seems to block entry into the screened porch. I love the idea of a sofa against the wall, something like what robo posted with some comfy cushions and arms, and a chair for reading with a footstool that could also double as an extra seat. Add a small cocktail table you can also use for a tray of snack food. The bar cart is also a great idea. Encourages people to gravitate to where the food and drinks are. You could also string up some lighting along the perimeter and it would look very inviting. Do you get a lot of sun on the deck? It looks shady so I would think a new round table with chairs for seating would be fine and then move your grill & the pub table out there. You can get some pretty nice chairs that swivel and rock. I have also seen some benches that double as storage for the cushions so that might be an option if there is room. That would keep cushion maintenance down for you when you aren't there....See MorePam Cadd
