I iknow I will get beat up for this, but I could see those as mirrored doors, and the woodwork around them done dark to compliment the headboard you are planning. I think it would give the effect of a standing floor mirror, since it is a narrow closet, not a huge one.

My trim is painted white throughout the house....with the exception of my son's room. He decided to do it himself on a whim about a month after moving in. The room was baby blue with a hand painted sky on the ceiling which looked more like an angry galaxy. He couldn't stand it and used the buff color I had used for my living room walls. I was almost crazy watching him paint, he did it in 3 hours and covered everything including the baseboard,coving and ceiling in one color. Results really surprised me, it looks great and made the room feel larger, much more pulled together. Am not sure if I'd do this in any room, but for this one it worked out well. All in the beholder, this sounds like a job you will have to play with. Buy some cheap oops paint or use something you have around and try an area. May be added work, but paint is easily changed and painting, as with interior design, is a personal decision. While at Lowes for plumbing, I mentioned the return of blue/pink/yellow sinks/toilets which were on display. The two guys said "yeah, back to the 60s/70s". My kids (in their late 30s) were commenting on some green dishes bought to use for matching my kitchen paint picked out. They think these greens look exactly like the avacado they grew up with. My explanation that the greens are "herb" tones just brought a bunch of giggling. I love green and will still paint the kitchen an "herb" green. But admission that they have now tainted my seeing the different shades and in the back of my mind is avacado.

From what I see in my research, it is all a matter of preference and type of style you are going for. Mostly today you see a lot contrast with colored walls paired with bright white trim, doors, and baseboards. This creates a lot of contrast if the wall color is particularly dark. I personally grew up in paneling hell in a sixties ranch house and everything in our house was stained wood.... walls, doors, trim. Yuck... I don't think I have ever seen doors painted the same color as the walls but, not the trim but, I am sure there are some that do it. I always assumed the doors would be the same as the trim except when you do interior black or dark, dark doors. In the house I am remodeling now, I painted the living room walls one color and the trim, doors, buildins and baseboards a slightly darker color but in the same color family for subtle variation when using shades of white. My husband swears he can't tell the difference in the colors and I had to convince him that was on purpose. I love the way it is just a hint different. In the dining room which has really low ceilings and is small, I decided to experiment and paint everything except the ceiling the same light blue color from Farrow & Ball. I love it too. I didn't paint the ceiling the same only because I understood that would make the ceiling seem even lower than it is now. Flat on the walls and eggshell on the trim and doors. I am liking it but, some people don't. Again it's personal preference. DH sprayed the Advance for all the trim and I think he mentioned it went on a bit different but he didn't have any complaints. I think he thinned it with floetrol, just like he did when we used Sherwin Williams ProClassic for our other trim. We just hired a painter to paint the trim and doors in the remaining bedrooms and 1 additional bathroom because DH doesn't have time to finish those rooms. The painter is brushing instead of spraying and he said he really likes the Advance. It looks great - not as perfect as DH's sprayed on finish but DH also takes 3 times longer to finish because he's such a perfectionist :)
