Actually, just before the time you signed on as Jean Luc, there were a few others that were being complete jerks if challenged at all. A new person would ask a question and someone would suddenly belittle them for not doing some research first. Or someone would pose a suggestion and someone else would belittle that person for making what was perceived as an idiotic suggestion. One lady started belittling people for questioning LED technology and backed it up with a radish experiment. Problem is, she got really nasty to people for questioning her resources. That's the one that really brought me out of my shell and I got so fed up with these people ruining such a great forum that I started pushing back. Others wanted to be polite and wait until those people moved on. One person e-mailed me and asked why I suddenly started doing that as it seemed out of character. He's still on here occasionally if he wants to chime in. I came back after a few months of leave from the site for not being able to deal with some jerks without fighting back. Let's face it. It was shortly after you signed back up under the current name and I decided to stop signing in and having your and my arguments dominate the site. Especially since I noticed others were taking your lead and being jerks to new comers, too. Then I made an embarrassing mistake a couple of months ago. I saw hardclay (I think, maybe someone else) post something I misunderstood as being a jerk. That was totally my fault. I came in expecting jerks and steeled myself against it therefore becoming exactly what I had a problem with. Guess what. . . Grizzman put me in the right place with reason. (I'd like to point out that I also had really bad blood sugar levels when I posted on that thread, which always causes me to be aggressive, and I intend to refrain from posting when in that state again.) That is one huge difference between you and me, though. I made a mistake and I can admit it. I'm surprised you just threw Grizzman under the bus. He's the one that stood up for you. I'm not negotiating with you on anything, Luc. You have nothing to offer me, except some ideas on new set-ups maybe. I can't trust your info to be accurate. Your previous inclination to make up answers when "I don't know" was the right response and belittle anyone that gave a better one challenging yours led me to realize you are in these forums for people to look up to you. It's an attention thing. Hey, we all need acceptance from somewhere. I'm fine with it coming from my wife and kids and the families that are a part of the kids group I run. Real life people. You need it to not only come from a website, but be focused on you completely. Otherwise, the person runs the risk of belittlement and apparently being called a "backstabber". Your forum looks nice. Last weekend my 3-year old top of the line Bosch 800 series combination convection wall oven (model HBL8751UCC) introduced us to a secret Bosch recipe for preparing meat. About 15 minutes into cooking two trays of steak, the inner sheet of glass in the oven shattered into a thousand small pieces, showering the meat with delicious chunks of broken glass! After discussing the issue with my Bosch representative all I got was an apology and a 20% discount on buying a replacement piece of glass (no discount at all for the labor). Looking at the internet, it became clear that Bosch has been using the secret glass recipe in their ovens for about 10 years now, and it's apparently such a big hit with consumers that the company has decided not to make any changes to their recipe. Ahhh, there have been other issues with this oven, like the ever dimming display on the microwave control panel (now barely visible) and the weird way that closing the microwave door would sometimes turn the lower oven on (a ghost in the machine?). A word to the wise--if you're thinking of buying a Bosch oven, you might want to consider some other brands--unless you like the taste of glass in your favorite recipes.

Well, LG has actually updated the suspension on their newest top loaders. They support brakets are metal and four additional shock absorbers were added to the tub. Not trying to make you buy an LG but "just sayin'". But I don't know when they will hit the market. These units were just shown at CES a couple of days ago. Between the Whirlpool vs Maytag - Eco Boost vs. Water Save Spray Rinse - Drum Light button vs. not available - nothing vs. Power Wash cycle - Perm Press/Casual vs. not available (maybe the Towels/Colors cycle) - Towels cycle vs. Towels/Colors cycle - two-digit display vs. four-digit display That's about what I can see from looking at the control panel. The Maytag also comes with a longer warranty on the motor and tub (although most washers with this type of motor have the same warranty these days, so it's nothing exceptional in my opinion...). The Whirlpool has the same motor, by the way. Between the two, I'd probably... go... for... the Maytag. Alex

Remember to ignore the dosing instructions on the box. This is especially true of PERISL because the dosing is set for European hard water(unless you have this type of water). Instead I started of with the lowest dose I thought would get the job done(When I started I began with 1 teaspoon but I have a smaller unit than yours) and then looked at the results. If things don't look clean then I consider the following options: Use a cycle with a higher water temp if possible, or use the extended option to increase the cycle time - if you have the time, or if this doesn't work then add a bit more detergent - increasing in 1/2 teaspoons until you get what you want. Also adjust the amount of detergent to the soil level. If you can't see heavy visible dirt, or smell it, you don't need a lot of detergent - use less. After a bit you will be able to look at each load and it's soil level and know the least amount of detergent that will get the job done. Miele vs PERSIL Megaperls - they are similar in my water conditions except that the Miele is slightly more concentrated so I can use less, and it is quite good with heavy soil using warm water(105F) washes, however I have never tried the sensitive formulation. Watch your washer and let us know what you get from your changes. My older 6K unit is programmed for water+ extra rinse and when I use the sensitive button I get 3 rinses, and a higher fill for all of them - the rinse water is 1/4 way up the door glass. The current energy standards probably don't allow for water 1/4 up the door but check yours out and see if you get more. Why Jeans defaults to high and not Max spin. If I remember correctly when I bought my machine I heard that Miele referred to some garment institute in the EU that publishes standards for how to clean garments and they used their standards to set the defaults and actions the washer takes to work with different types of material. I don't know if that is still the case with the 48XX models.
