Another Pool Remodel Question

drsaj
last year

We are having our negative edge swimming pool remodeled. As you can see, we had an issue with water flowing over to the left of the spillover wall, damaging the wall and faux brick that used to be there. After they chipped out the old pebbletec, we can see the structure underneath. The part of the spillover wall that bumps out a little is deeper at the top and gets shallower (and more narrow) as it goes down. The pool remodeler said they can't change the structure of the existing wall so I'm trying to figure out what we can do to prevent the water from going out of bounds and damaging the new stucco wall. We're thinking about having the tiler add a column of 6x6 porcelain tiles to the face of the bumpout, making the mud thicker as needed so that the depth is the same all the way down. Then he could add another column of the tile left of that directly on the stucco wall. Do you think 2 columns of the porcelain tile will prevent damage to the stucco wall? Any other ideas? The spillover wall and pool will have mini pebble applied once the tile has been installed.
