You appear to have baseboard heat/ac beneath those windows. That's something that would need to be addressed if you build in a window seat and/or taken into account if you place your sofa in that window bay. One drawback to having a sofa floating in the middle of the room (as shown in your pic) is that there are no end tables with lamps (hidden cord issues) for either end of your sofa ... unless you're setting one end table between the sofa and the wall that separates the living room and kitchen. Your walk-thru path would then be between the sofa and the large window/window/seat. If you prefer the back of your sofa against the wall (with end tables on each end), another option might be to move the doorway between the living room and dining room closer to the fireplace and face your sofa toward and centered with the large window with a couple of swivel rockers and table between them in that window bay.

Hello Jayne, What a fun space! Here are a few of my thoughts: For the dining space, I would stick with a small, rectangular table. Because you have a doorway to the porch near the dining area and you want room to walk around easily, I would aim for something not larger than 60" long by 36" wide, but you can double check that in the space. As for the seating area, if you want to maximize seating, I might aim for a couch with one or two chairs along the wall with the window. I notice when I have guests, everyone chooses a chair. Not everyone wants to snuggle up next to someone they don't know very well on a sectional. It is also easier to rearrange if you decide to change up the layout. If you want to have even more options for seating, it might also be nice to do one or more ottomans that are cushioned and could be used for feet or as additional seating for guests. They could be grouped together or spread out when being used. If you ended up replacing your coffee table with a/an ottoman/s, you may want to also add end tables so there is a place to set drinks, remotes, or lamps, if desired. For an entertainment center, I would potentially choose something a bit more narrow to make sure it wasn't in the walkway, For instance, this entertainment center is 14" D so it is the same as the depth change in the wall so it could be flush. I can be clumsy and prefer to have things tucked away or I run into them! Then I would add a rug, some lamps, and maybe a great mirror over the fireplace to make it look bigger and brighter! I never considered a bigger rug, but will do so now as that seems to be a repeated suggestion. We will also take another look at the the height of that mirror on the side wall (above the mantel is a actually a large framed photo that I blacked out for this post). We did experiment with turning the dining table the other way, but it didn't feel right and seemed to block the openness of the sliding doors. And I was leaning towards an upholstered bench behind the couch (for a casual spot to sit with the added bonus of storage for blankets inside), but perhaps that would be odd? Again, thank you all. For your space, yes you need a bigger rug with all the furniture on the rug. If the rusty red pillows are your accent color, maybe find a neutral rug with that also as an accent. You can keep this layout and add two chairs under the window with a table in between. Or you could move the love seat under the window and add a chair diagonally across as an accent chair. You need some artwork or photos or something above the sofa. Is this room just for reading/ conversation or is there a TV? Do you need any shelving for books or storage or display items? Good luck!
