Saturday's blooms

We have been so busy I haven't even gotten to look at the posts on Houzz. This week was dedicated to planting seedlings. We basically worked from about 6:00--8:15 pm when it was a little cooler. Today was cooler than expected, being overcast most of the day. We pushed hard and got them finished--about 1200 or so now planted. We worked late to get the last ones planted and caught a beautiful sunset.

Hey Soul Sister was showing its smoky face today.

Maynard Max was looking good.

This is a picture of a seedling bed with four year old plants. We usually cull after three years, but didn't get the job done last year. There are aisles in there, but the plants are so thick you can hardly walk down the rows.

I was ready to get rid of South Seas but Bob didn't want to.It's prettier this year than it has ever been.

Here are a few seedlings. This is Cactus Blossom X (Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding X Rosy Spiketail).

I like the colors on Strawberry Romance X Empire of Dawn and Dusk.

This is Wolverine X Spacecoast Alpha Wolf.

This is a small-flowered diploid that caught my eye today. Little Donny Darko X Night Dreams is showing that smoky look.

I wrote this post and then forgot to submit it. Old age is creeping up on me.

Or maybe just fatigue, Nancy!! I am always awed by the number of seedlings you guys plant. What is the usual timeline from planting to bloom? At least you caught the gorgeous sunset as a reward. I really like the Strawberry Romance seedling.

The next two were purchased from the Zahler and Therrian garden in 2016. They all increase well and are well budded. DANCING WITH LINDA: Gold edge on a dip. Ed hybridizes with it quite a bit. I love 29 FLAGS OVER CONWAY. I asked about the name and Duane said that as a seedling there were 29 flags placed by it when there garden was on tour. That is it. Scandinavia Victorian Poet Emerald Starfish Eyes that See Coach's Magic Man, looks like some blooms are really short, but dog ran thru the bed and knocked some scapes over. I thought they would not bloom, but they just kept on Ashwood Still Night Whip City Fancy Free, has only ever been about half the height it is registered Stumbling Stone poly MEan Green, but camera is showing the color totally off. Flowers are extra large and taller than it has been before, though, it really is talking to me. Unfortunately, I planted Rainbow dragon to the front/side of it. Have it move it, it is no match for Mean Green, he lives up to the name Pleasing to the Eye Cameroon Twister, to far in mid bed for me to deadhead well, but I always seem to overlook some anyway

Like Kate, I am a fan of that Strawberry Romance seedling. After seeing that four year old seedling bed I am wondering how you keep track of all of those seedlings snd their performance, seems overwhelming, they look so nice in the photo.

I also like the Strawberry Romance X Empire of Dawn and Dusk seedling. I also like the Wolverine X Spacecoast Alpha Wolf. seedling. and Maynard Max does look good. Love the seedling bed. A couple of them pop out on the seedling bed photo./ A tall appearing yellow in the top right third of the photo and the bottom half has a huge red with a huge yellow center.

I love your sunset photo and the picture of the seedling bed. Maynard Max and South Seas are alluring, and I'm partial to Strawberry Romance X Empire of Dawn and Dusk.

Not a fan of Soul Sister. Definitely for someone who likes them different..........I do like your Strawberry Romance seedling. That unbroken color on the edge is something to be proud of.....Oh no! Don't throw out South Seas. You are right about some years the color is better then others, but it's always pretty. I've even gotten rebloom scapes on mine one year. It will fool you.......Maryl
