Comments (1)Ahhhh, sport-fishing already LOL next time check if its just one leaf or its own eye. If its a single leaf it probably wont stay that way. If it is a single eye thats striped, well then that a different story:P Dave...See MoreHostas Reverting
Comments (26)Not hard to get green or gold, since I don't know what value you place on this clump I'll look at as if it were mine. Dig the whole damned thing and start to divide carefully looking to find the eye that has the variegation. Try to separate that eye and pot so you can watch it and remove any solid colors. The one variegated leaf looks like it has lighter color on each side of the center stem so it should come back if you can separate it. If there is only one leaf on that eye then we can talk about "Zumberizing" it to get that leaf coloration only. Now back to the remainder, you have a group of greenÂs and goldÂs decide what you want and compost the rest. IÂve done this and it is just fun to find out what happens. The worse is youÂll lose this leaf but you will still have all the green and gold you can use....See MoreSporting Question
Comments (8)boy .. i can tell how confused you are.. because i cant make sense of the question ... but that wont stop US ... lol ... genetic testing probably could tell us IF FGT and FB are the same ... and further testing could tell us which she has ... the problem being.. who is going to spend thousands of dollars on such testing ... to find out.. when each plant can probably be bought for 10 bucks ... here are some more basics ... hosta are inherently unstable ... sporting further ahead to new stuff.. reverting to where it came from ... it can happen in your garden on single plants.. but when you go into tissue culture.. the shear fact that you take that one plant .. and divide it thousands. even hundreds of thousand times ... you greatly increase the chances of sporting or reverting ... if you have two TC labs.. and each gets the green plant from edged plant.. all to often.. both labs name it... and sell it ... and they really aren't interested in spending thousands for the DNA testing.. in fact.. most often ... they might not even know the other one is producing and selling it .. until many years later ... does this answer your questions.. or at least clarify it enough.. so that you can ask the next question.. so i can clarify it for you??? or confuse you more.. lol ken...See More2002 Hosta of the Year Guacamole
Comments (12)Hostanista, I think it is the Hosta Growers who name the HOTY. I would be remiss if I did not remind you of the benefits of joining the American Hosta Association. Many on the forum are members, and they know the benefits more than I. This is my first year as a member, having joined around March 2012. Not too many months back, we voted on the forum for our favorite large/medium/smalls and blues as well as greens. Maybe the voting will continue (once we recover from exhaustion over the political voting) for the other kinds of hosta. Soon? Please?...See Moresweet_betsy No AL Z7
