Take a broken chair, an old metal bed and an old picture frame ~~
Comments (6)I'm still working on things:-) Here is the painted window so far: I also have started working on this window. I nailed the picket planter to the window and hope to find some small shutters. It needs another coat of paint. I think I will just use fake flowers in this planter: I can't finish the metal bed until it's ready to place in the garden, have to wait for winter to end:-) I have been painting the bed spindles with the same color I painted spindles to make garden tools to hang from the side of the bed. Got that idea from a poster here who made the tools hanging from a old rake:-) Thanks for that idea!! Also in the picture are 2 insulators that I'm making into hanging candle holders. I need to find something to put on the wire to jazz them up:-) The other white spindle holds a sign that says 'This Way To Mom's Garden". It needs to be painted with another color....See MoreTo boxspring or not to boxspring?
Comments (2)Boxsprings do add comfort and support to a mattress. Can one get by with only a mattress? Yes, of course. But if a person has a few hundred dollars available to spend, then why not get the boxspring too. Just try the two combinations out side by side in a mattress store and see what you think. Our current bed is a Jamison queen mattress on a queen box spring that is on wood slats (wood sleigh bed). I bought this queen mattress and boxspring in 1991 and it still gives great medium-firm support. It will probably last another 15 years. Finally, some cheap mattress combinations include a support box with no metal springs inside. It is only a wooden box covered in fabric with a light padding on top. This is definitely not the same as a good boxspring....See MoreMetal bed frame question
Comments (9)Thanks forhgtv. We have wood floors, it might be ok , if not I wonder if there are any tricks as to what I could put under the wheels to make sure they do not move....See MoreAre all metal bed frames squeaky?
Comments (10)I've had many various metal beds over the years and none of them have squeaked. All of these beds have had the metal side rails that slip INTO the head and foot board legs. The box spring then sits on these rails. All of those beds have been antiques. Our current bed is a brass bed ( maybe 50+ years old, that I inherited from my mom and dad. It has the same type of side rails but they bolt/screw into the head and footboard. One of these screw holes is stripped and it is unable to fasten tightly this causes a little movement to the headboard but no squeak. Maybe your childhood bed had an attached "spring" for the base and no rails for a box spring. Those old spring things would squeak like crazy!...See MoreAngel 18432
