Need white Paint and white Trim Color help

last yearlast modified: last yearWhen you say lower level, do you mean windowless, or low light? If either, white is not the best choice. This is a good example of what happens to white walls in a low light room.

White kitchen cabinet paint and trim paint - need help
Comments (5)I'm painting my cabinets white right now, and had a hard time choosing the white. Funny how you can stand there staring at four white paint chips taped up to your cabinets and go nuts trying to decide which one looks best! I almost went with Simply White but ended up choosing White Dove. I went with Benjamin Moore Advance in satin. The people at the store recommended either Cabinet Coat or Advance for kitchen cabinets. I'm not familiar with SW Pro. But if you use BM paint, the satin might have enough of a shine for you. I started with satin thinking I might switch to semi-gloss, but the satin is really nice and has much more shine then I expected. I would use satin for the cabinets and semi-gloss or even gloss for the trim. But I like shiny trim! Good luck! I should actually be painting my cabinets right now!...See MoreHelp! Comments (5)Thank you again for your advice on colors. I love the combination of colors you have chosen. But I feel that again, I have not been very clear. The "landing" I am referring to is on the 1st floor. Unfortunately, in that dark niche outside the two bedrooms, I cannot hang anything because a thermostat was placed on that wall, and the A/C man just confirmed that it cannot be moved without a lot of work and expense. That is very unfortunate!! There is a "landing" on the 2nd floor too, along with a long hallway that connects bedroom to bathroom and study. In my opinion, the color of the stairwell will have to also be the color of the walls on this 2nd floor hall. Walls of study are BM 1077; walls of bathroom are SW Krypton; walls of bedroom are BM 1075. Please let me know if the colors you are showing are BM 1077 and SW Dover White. Those are colors I would like to stick with in my color scheme in general. Comments (4)Thanks I took a look and brought a paint swatch sample to the store, but in person neither of those colors worked. I am looking at Hunter Douglas Journal and Aspen White. Also looking at Bali Dove White and Almost white. Its tricky as the Bali Dove White looked right if blind sample was stretched out, but if it is crinkled (as in a partially raised blind) it looks too yellow.. The room gets good light during the day. I am leaning toward Hunter Douglas Journal. Does anyone have any experience a white white honeycomb blind matching BM white dove trim well? Comments (3)I think, I would use the oxford white for the cabinets too. If you are going to do it yourself, make sure you scrub them very well. Sand them well, and use a top quality primer on them, and that you also use a paint especially for cabinets. last yearI have french oak flooring and did Simply white on the walls, and the trim work (one in eggshell the other in semi gloss) . It's a nice white. not too stark, and not at all yellow or gray.
I originally had painted the walls w/White Dove, but it was very dingy looking. I wouldn't recommend that one. Alabster is similar to that, but IMO, leans a bit more yellow.

Your painter may prefer SW, but you're paying him to paint the color you want. If you can't find a SW white that you like, then just have him go buy the BM paint. not a big deal.
SW Pure white is close, but Simply White is a bit warmer.
