Yes! I think it would be gorgeous. Above the chair rail? Below? Both? I think you were talking about both. Do test out combos in an online paint test thingy (Sherwin Wms has one and I'm sure the others do as well) to help determine what gets navied and what doesn't.

Love navy rooms. Try out those blues in your room. Often they are lighter brighter on the wall. I used BM Abyss for a true navy. Love your rug, mine is same colors only more navy

Forgot to add my opinion...white for dado in eggshell finish and white for dado rail in semi-gloss finish.

In general I don't think a single dark wall as an accent wall in a room that has a lot of detailing like yours does is a good idea. Those details are already the accent. Accent walls are for plain rooms with not enough going for them. You have a fireplace, you have bookshelves, you have columns. You don't need one wall in particular standing out from all of that.

I also don't think colored walls above and below a white chair rail is great either, it just divides the height into pieces. White below as if it is wainscotting, matching the trim might be okay.

If you do paint the room navy it will be a much darker and moodier room but you will need a lot more lighting unless you specifically want it to be a moody room.

I am also not sure it will work well with your current sofas. (?) It will take a relatively dark colored fabric against the white and turn it into a relatively medium, possibly dingy looking sort of neutral against the navy.

@palimpsest white paneled t v/fireplace wall is the accent wall. OP is painting the other walls in navy.

My thought was to paint the walls, including chair rail (above and below) the navy. I do not like chair rail with a white below for a TV/family room. I would possibly do chair rail a different sheen, but same color. Window trim, baseboard, and crown mounding white.

I was just expressing a general opinion on some of the options I have seen pictured above. In other words if you are going to do the walls in navy, I support doing the whole thing. In fact, my dark blue room, which is completely enclosed, rather than open plan, like yours has all trim painted the same dark blue (although my walls are dark blue paper).

@palimpsest for a better perspective the two sheetrocked walls would be navy, the one tongue and groove would remain white.

I would consider painting the body of the paneling itself the blue as well.

IMO, it is the tongue and groove that needs to be painted dark while the fireplace, trim and other walls go white. I would opt for black to work better with the gray upholstery, and the floors, and to camouflage the TV, which I'd move left of the FP on an articulated arm. I might also paint the FP surround black too.

Dani tough to get a good picture (glare) it's a north facing room with window on north and one on west wall

Please put the TV where the art is and the art above the FP I am not thinking 2 dark walls and 2 white will be attractive I think if you want navy do it all but in anopen floor plan usually all the walls the same color is abetter choice I think Beverly's idea might work but for sure no double accent wall.

Very nice! Love the navy. Would you consider adding a navy throw and/or navy pillows to the sofa with all the cream pillows? I can’t tell if the cream pillows have navy accents. I like the white chair rail!

LP- the pillows are mostly off white and navy, I ordered two navy throw blankets and a beautiful navy satin pillow with pops of coral to tie in rug (will be placed on leather chair)
