Before and after pictures - back lawn

woodyoak
last year

This morning I was out weeding along the paths on the north side of the backyard (way too many brunnera seedlings!) and took a

picture trying to show the 'after' after the removal of the ash tree and pruning one of the white redbuds. As you can see, there is still a lot of shade back there but the location of the shad varies substantially during the day. The 'after' picture was taken just after 11:00 a.m. I want to limb-up the white pine which should improve the light on the west side. The fringetree in the bed along the patio the patio (not visible in this picture) is blooming the best it ever has and they do bloom better with more sun. I need to do some research to find out when they set their flowerbuds because if they do it the previous year, it would just be a coincidence that it is blooming so well now - but it should continue to bloom very well in future years I think! (does anyone know when the fringetree flower buds are formed?)
