I'm so happy with my cucumbers !
Comments (13)My cucumbers are just now starting! We are commuting gardeners so often pile into the pickup hungry, tired, hot, and thirsty. A peeled cuke is sure appreciated in such circumstances. I've grown Turbo for quite a few years now, Raise. It is also a favorite. Once again, I've got things mixed up out there amongst the vines but I'm confident that it's the Raiders and maybe the Speedways that have started things off. Speedways are new to me this year but Raiders are really early. Remarkably, the Tasty Kings have already kicked in! I'm liking that variety more each year (now 2 ;o). It will be awhile yet for the lemon cukes. Since the cukes have started and I've got the sweet onions too, whereÂs the ripe tomato? The apple cider vinegar can come from the store and I should be able to find a fork. Steve...See MoreOh my goodness, I'm so happy to find you!
Comments (10)Hi Kelli~A few years ago I found these folks and they helped me along the way as I planned my Ozarks gardens...still have so much to learn, but one thing you can count on ...they are always there for you and they are the most encouraging and supportive group on the Gardenweb! I had to to move away for a while and spent some time in the northeast and tried to hook up with those folks, but is just wasn't the same...now I am in the Pacific and where do I still go?? Back to the Ozarks (where I hope to return one day)...and I am still drawing on their sense of family and knowledge... You'll love it here and will learn a lot ......See MoreI have worms--I'm so happy!
Comments (14)Before and After Lawn My house sits on top of limestone rubbles. I have to admit that I bought worms from worm grower somewhere and put worms in various spots 2 years ago. Apparently, it worked. I have earthworms everywhere now. I had absolutely zero earthworm when I moved into the house in 2005. Here's what I think helped the most... Organic program. I use organic fertilizer. I have st augustine lawn where I mow at 4 inches. That probably made things much more favorable for worms. Ground is a lot cooler and stay moist longer. I water deeply every 2 weeks. Absolutely no chemical pesticide at all or at least use the least toxic possible if necessary. Not sure which product so you'd have to do a bit of researching. I mainly use beneficial nematodes for pest control. I think earthworms make a huge difference for improving soil. top 4 inches are very nice till you hit rocky part....See MoreCoupe d'Hébé... Comments (11)Hi there Michael & Bart, sorry for the delay. My Coup is very healthy and even gave me a gorgeous bloom. Unfortunately the photo was lost when I broke my phone, some of the photos didn't transfer over to my new one. It's been extremely drought tolerant for being a newly planted rose... we have not had the rainfall that we usually have and it's out of reach of my house so only gets hand watered and hasn't fussed at all. It hasn't put out a ton of new growth but it's had no disease issues at all. I wouldn't say dark green, leaves are this color: http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.178228 I can't give much more feedback than that yet but I am extremely excited about it and can't wait to see how it does! You'll have to report back if you decide to order it! :)...See MoreM Riz
