Help: Anyone have problems with Sonoma Tile Imperfections?
Comments (1)Hi Beth, I just found your post relating to the Sonoma Tilemakers. I had crackle tile recently installed in my shower and have noticed black spots appearing on the tile (under the glaze). Did you resolve your tile issue with the company? Please let me know....See MoreAdvice for kitchen backsplash, Sonoma Tile, Walker Zanger, Rixi or....
Comments (0)Hi! I have been searching non-stop on Houzz for inspirations for kitchens ever since we built our home two years ago, and have a pretty good idea of the look I want. (See two photos posted from Houzz that I especially adore!) However, it's not easy to make an educated decision on a backsplash when what you receive as a sample is a 3x6 tile! I was hoping maybe someone with similar finishes would be willing to share photos with me. I don't have photos to post right now (they all came out terrible) but our kitchen has a European flair. White cabinets, with a glaze (they are creamy, maybe even with a touch of yellow). Definitely not a true white. The granite is "Yellow River"....lots of movement, with primarily golden, rust, warm tones. Our kitchen island has a dark stain wood, and our floors are a cherry-stained oak. I'm looking to achieve a "tone on tone" kitchen, and since the granite is so dramatic, I'm set on crackle subway tile. Of the four local shops I've visited, the contenders are (and not in order of importance) 1.) Rixi in "Crema" (but maybe too light?) and also "Dore" (but maybe WAY too yellow?) 2.) Sonoma tile Star Tribeca in "Butter" 3.) Walker Zanger Gramercy Park "Hamptons Beige" (don't have a sample but the store said they could order one) 4.) Jeffrey Court "Sandbar" (I think this may be too dark) I really am set on a crackle subway, based on some gorgeous kitchens that look similar to my own on Houzz. Yet, I'm stuck on the "right" cream/beige color! I also LOVED Encore ceramics, but the store quoted $40/sq ft and that's just not going to happen. I have a list of contractors to call, so I'll see if they can do better on pricing. That way help sway the decision. Does, anyone have Yellow River granite and light cabs with a crackle subway backsplash? Does anyone have a photo of Sonoma's "Butter" that I could see? It's like trying to choose a paint color based on those tiny paint chips! SO difficult to get a feel for what the surface will look like entirely covered by the tile! Thank you!...See MoreSonoma Tile backsplash anyone?
Comments (6)I went to your idea books but couldn't figure out which kitchen is yours..)) I think I know Sonoma's Dulce de Leche..it's very pretty for sure, was playing with the idea of it myself at some point (not for the backsplash though)..yep they are expensive the stores we used gave us 30% discount on all tiles as long as we mentioned we're working with a contractor but i don't know whether it'll fly in your case since you've finished your kitchen a while ago who's going to be laying the tile? maybe you can have his name as a pro reference? the stores we dealt with didn't really care about getting all the info..but i think they did need some minimal reassurance there's a pro there somewhere, to give us this discount. they were pretty laid back though. i'd say my impression was this discount was already built into their asking price..they could easily afford to go 30 off so they weren't fussy about it. but if i hadn't ask for example-i'm not sure they'd offer me that info and that discount. maybe yes as they were all very nice to deal with..but maybe no. i think pics won't help you as much-they will be of different spaces, in different lighting, professionally shot, maybe photoshopped too a bit..and then you'll see them through your monitor which might cast blue or green or whatever monitors do as long as you decide it works with all your finishes and in all of your lights-you're kinda good to go. you still will be scared a bit until the tile goes in of course..but really, no place will give you as great an idea of tile, as seeing it in your own....See MoreWhich wood stain finish best matches Tucson Buckskin Wood-like Tile?
Comments (0)We decided to with the wood-like tile throughout our new construction home. The stairs leading to the bonus room on the second floor is wood. We are trying to pick the best finish for the wood to match the wood-like tile that's throughout the house. The super is going to have three stains for us to choose from when we go to our walk-through, but I wanted to go to that meeting a little prepared by soliciting some opinions on here in case anyone has had to deal with this. I have attached a picture of the wood-like tile. Thanks in advance!...See Morechispa
