Comments (18)Thank you very very much for the valuable advice. We got quotes on Okna, Softlite and Sunrise. We chose Soflite and this is the Bainbridge. Our photo below shows what to expect when the replacements have to have "more grid" and less glass than the original in a bow or picture window. This is all tempered glass so safer if someone hits it and breaks it, it is low E argon. It was inoperable before and now the 2 casements on the end are operable, and the other 4 are picture windows. Okna and Sunrise were great options too. We found the Okna product to be significantly more expensive and for our situation that level was not what we needed. Comments (11)The best way to modernize a bow window is to replace it with a window that is not bowed and since you already know you have some rot there this is the perfect time to do that. All sidind should match IMO, a nice entry portico would be a really nice addition to the front of the house . As for insulation that will give huge payback for as long as you own the house so IMO a must. Remove the shutters they do not belong on those windows , a new front door with no storm door and just a phantom screen for air flow....See More

last yearlast modified: last yearI agree with WoW, picture window. One piece of glass is classic and so much easier to clean. You have 4 SHs on the second story. More SHs is too same-same. I would want a focal point. Picture window.
If you want the breeze, three proportional casement or horizontal rolling like this looks nice, but it’s modern, not so traditional, and may be walking you into more of a transitional look. The odd number of three is never a bad thing. Definitely neither the two SH, nor the three disproportional 25/50/25, imho.
Ooooo, I like that I can edit an older post on the computer version of Houzz :)Looking at the photo example I posted, I have to imagine that the space that those three windows I see on the above example is wider than your opening by a bit, maybe double the width of window space you're working with, idk. And when I zoomed in on the above picture, I realized they literally separated, those three windows (so pretty), by a few inches.
After noticing the width you're working with and the above details, I'm back to " single piece of glass picture window."
I wonder if this is possible--picture window on the top two-thirds of the opening and two casement or awning windows that do open side by side on the bottom third of the opening? Too contemporary? Too weird?
I'm just enjoying pondering someone else's project while ignoring my own :)
