Comments (2)What is the Ben Moore number to that color? I can't find a Ben Moore color by that name. Sherwin Williams has one. If you don't get any responses here, you might want to post this on the Home Decorating forum. Comments (12)I love olive, it looks good year round, whether trees are in bloom, autumn color, or against snow. That said, my only concern would be that you don't go too dark. . Tribbix' Mountain Moss does seem nice. I have used Bennington Gray, which is sometimes cream and sometimes slightly olive greenish, depending on the light. You might want to look at Providence Olive, too. My two picks look far less green, in isolation, than does the Moss, but I think that when you put them next to the brick the green comes forward. Both of them change a lot throughout the day. We used SW fireweed for the clapboards, SW ripe olive for door and shutters, and BM compatible cream for the windows and other trim. So you know I love your color scheme....See MoreHELP. What colors for the door, trim, screened porch, & shutters?
Comments (17)Yes Bette! I can't even tell you how many times I've looked at Romabio bc of the one step application and time after to be able to washoff/modify. I believe right now my plan is to lime wash the brick soon which is something I've been looking at doing since I bought the house. I've researched mortar smears, painting, whitewashing, and lime wash enough to drive someone crazy. I just can't seem to come to a decision on colors for this difficult brick. I have also decided to go with a metal roof later possibly instead of shingles. I grew up in the south and love them during those southern storms and it's not too much more than shingles. I'm rebuilding my shutters today and I have no idea what color to paint them, I suppose I'll leave them off the house for now. Thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it and I'll try to update with progress photos. I'm also power washing the brick this weekend to see if that makes it any "brighter"....See MoreCan I have a white trim with cream shutters? Need help
Comments (11)Keep the shutters. Not everyone wants mid-century modern. The plantation shutters will outlast anything else you might select. They are great for privacy. Yes, they do reduce the amount of light, but some of us live in climates where we need to reduce the sun beating into the house. Consider SW Creamy 7012 along with SW Alabaster 7008. I've got SW Creamy on my walls and trim along with my shutters. Paint the shutters in a semi-gloss finish to harmonize with the glossy finish of the shutters. My walls are also SW Creamy in a satin finish. It works very nicely and is close enough to appear to be the same. I see from looking at your pictures that the house appears to be older. Years ago, an architect friend of mine who specializes in historic architecture explained the reasoning for one color, different glosses. It's to trick the eye into missing any imperfections between walls and trim. SW Alabaster will work nicely, too. I suggest you try both. They are so close that you will have a hard time choosing. I thought the SW Creamy was closer....See MoreLindsay K
