Frank Smith Daylilies
Comments (29)Frank Smith ripped me off for $2500 - Just wanted to give a word of warning here. I haven't been on the Daylily forum for quite awhile after all this happened, but didn't want anyone else to get taken the way I did. In spring 2006 I ordered Frank's COMPLETE spring collection. Besides the rust, the single fans survived fine through the summer (I knew winter would kill the rust in my zone). So I ordered & paid for his fall 2006 intros & preordered & paid for his 2007 spring intros (for a total of $2500). He wouldn't send the fall intros until spring 2007 (said I wouldn't have enough time to get them settled in before winter), so I said ok. Well.........that winter, all the 2006 spring intros I'd been growing all summer died. So in spring 2007 when I realized they were all dead I called Frank. I told him I didn't expect a refund of the plants that had died, but that I didn't want to buy any more and would like a refund of my preorder ($2500). He said fine - after their sale in May they would do a chargeback or something on my credit card as long as they sold the plants they had been holding for me. So I waited & waited & finally in July I called again & he said yes, they had sold the plants without a probleem, took my credit card #, said it would take a couple weeks to show up on my credit card. So I waited & waited (a couple months, actually) with no refund. Since then, I have made many attempts via phone and email to get my money back.......here it is spring 2009 and I still have never received any plants OR any money back. I can never get an answer on the phone or a returned phone call. Isn't this totally illegal for them to rip someone off that way? For $2500??? Just wanted everyone to be warned. I do think I've waited long enough. I just hope I haven't waited so long that I can't take him to court. I think Frank Smith needs to clean up his act in more ways than one....it's not just about rust!! So.......buyer BEWARE!!...See MoreFrank Betz Sullivan from Start to Finish
Comments (51)mclendon -- We actually did very little of the hands-on work ourselves. My DH helped one the framing guys expand a room, he framed the arches, laid tile in two bathrooms, and that's about it (well except for all the stinkin cleanup!!!). This has cost us right at $90/sqft. We were hoping we'd be closer to 80 - but we've added some expensive finishes -- tile shower, granite countertops, hardwood on entire bottom level (except baths), expanded kitchen, etc. Our land work was about $10k more than we budgeted, so that accounts for $3/sqft right there. So, as far as advice, I'd have two or three bids done on your landwork if you have anything other than a straight flat lot (we have a basement). I'm not sure where you live or your financial situation, but it wasn't hard to get the bank to give us the money we needed, so I'm not sure on that one. They just asked us questions about what we were planning and we gave them answers and they gave us money ;o) Thanks for the compliments -- we are hoping to be in this weekend!!...See MoreHe certainly does look like Frank Sinatra!
Comments (18)They probably don't care to know. At least that's what I got of the article. They're friends and they'll continue to be friends, so why change anything? Leave well enough alone. I do think he looks like his mom a lot, not much like Woody and some like Frank. I'm not sure looks mean anything. When I was young I looked just like my mom. But when I grew up, I didn't look like either parent and I really couldn't figure out who I looked like. Do you know who I look like? My dad's uncle. My dad doesn't even look like him, so why do I? Weirdness!...See MoreFrank Strickland, breeder of Saint Patrick Rose passed away 2-7-2015
Comments (10)What a special rose and wonderful story! I am glad that I have this rose. I am looking forward to a more established St. Patrick Rose this year as it was only planted last year. In spite of the fact that it was only a small new plant, it was able to give me a huge bloom with nicely arranged petals last season....See MoreNinapearl
