please help ! my porch framing looks off to me
Comments (9)Sorry it has taken so long to respond. I did get to talk to our builder on Monday. He assured me that arch will be incorporated. It will be built down. I know we have a good framer but I was just having a momemt. I too had questions about the door being lower. The header for it is in the correct place and he put the sheathing over it so that he could cut out the elliptical transom for th door. Thanks!...See MorePlease help me with my porch furniture ..
Comments (16)No-green-thumb .. what a nice post to read, thank you. My household is crazy at times, but I wouldn't trade my DH, my girls, dogs, cat, chickens or Mr. Bun for the world. I'm very glad the instructions that I put up helped you all out! Angelcub .. the people across the street very recently painted their home the same yellow as our house. I had posted for suggestions on whether to repaint or not, and everyone here very graciously helped me out, including Squirrel doing some wonderful mock-ups for me of different colors. IMO, it's just a little too much of the same thing, leaning just a tiny bit toward the look of a showroom of vintage metal porch furniture, perhaps? Leahcate, this is exactly what I was wondering. I like the wicker mixed in with the metal furniture too. I love the picture that I posted of the metal glider painted the lime green and then they picked up that color on the cushions of the wicker. I like the two wicker chairs flanking the large glider that we have. I wonder how a wicker swing would look on the other half of the porch? Then do the same thing, paint the glider a brighter color, and pick up the color in the wicker cushion. Paint the little glider and chairs to match, but put them on the back deck .. that way there is continuity from the front to back of the house. Before I can put a metal set out there, I need to buy a retractable awning for the back deck though .. I've always wanted one for out there....See More8 inch or 10 inch columns on our wrap around porch?! Help me decide!!
Comments (14)I think that older farmhouses often had smaller posts on porches - i.e. just enough to hold up the roof. I like the smaller posts - they work, they are not wasteful, and din't block the views. They also allow you to double up the 2 on either side of the front door. I like the simple, square, plain, unadorned columns and they look nice on the rendering....See MoreHelp me choose my front entry porch tile, please
Comments (80)Well, painting our doors is taking much more time than anticipated! Partly bc we decided to take them off to lay flat and spray for a smoother finish. Plus my husband decided to work on building our shed yesterday so i had to wait for help on a few occasions. But we need a shed so that’s ok! Prep took forever bc the doors are not in great shape. And those darn windows! But I got both doors prepped and we sprayed 1 coat of primer on 1 door. But then couldn’t move it right away and then had to hang them before dark! So we will finish this weekend! I’ll post pics when done. Thank you!...See Morejdw7
