Help needed! Front door straight in to living room - want a foyer
Comments (13)I would be happy to do a proper floor plan for you, but need all measurements. First measure the overall dimensions of each room, each hallway, each bathroom, etc. Then start in a corner and go all the way around the room. Corner to window moulding>window including moulding>moulding to corner> corner to doorway, etc. You get the idea. Without all the dimensions it is impossible to come up with a viable solution. Have you tried to go to the local building department for a copy of the plans on file? They usually will get you a copy, which you would need in any case if you want to do any construction. Even if you hired an architect, they would need the plans. If you do get them, you can post them here. I would love to help....See Moreneed help with what to do for front foyer
Comments (15)Can you do a 3 x 5 at the front door to fill that area (niche)? If so then I would find a compatible runner to cover most of your hall (in same direction as 3 x 5, of course) What are your measurements for width and length for hallway,,.room to room? Also, do you want to have a monochromatic look such as you now have, or are there colors you can "borrow" from the other rooms for the runner?...See MoreFront Yard Needs Help (What do I do with this open space?)
Comments (7)It looks to me like you could stand to have the driveway widened a little, creating better access to the front entrance and getting rid of the patio pavers in gravel. Whether it's a simple widening or a drive re-do, it your choice. The former would work as an interim solution. It would be good to reconfigure the walk to the stoop to make it more useful and attractive. It could be standalone or part of a drive widening project. The logical place to create seating for impromptu gatherings is under the overhang at the right of the stoop. Because of the overhang, it's not a good area for growing foundation plants. If you park or drive at left of driveway, it looks like you may need to extend the driveway with a permanent driveway material. That would solve the packed mud problem. In general, you need a landscape plan for the front yard that includes both hardscape and planting. The speed with which you implement it, and whether it was in pieces or in total, would be up to you. As far as giving you specific solutions, the pictures are too small, fuzzy, dark & partial....See Morefront room needs HELP!!!!
Comments (8)My first thought is that everything seems to be the wrong color. The curtains need to be unified rather than different colors within the same room. The dark blue wall behind the TV creates a dark hole. Some things are very dark while the white fireplace is too much of a contrast. Can two ” bottom” portions of the cabinetry be placed side by side to act as a Tv stand.? Keep those pieces off of the fireplace wall. Paint the fireplace wall to match the other walls. Move the black bookcase to another room. Get a large rug that will fit under the sofa and chair and unify the colors. Get enough of the yellowish/cream panels for all of the windows. You need several more panels to add fullness. Remove all of the items on top of furniture and all of the other stuff sitting around. As was mentioned you need at least one floor lamp or an end table with a lamp. Do not bring anything back into the room unless it has a function or a place to store it out of site. I would paint the inside of your front door the same wall color....See MoreLyn Nielson
