What 'date' did you first see your Hummers come back?
Comments (5)Sad to say but I still have not had any hummers this year. I guess since they have not shown up by now they are not going to come. I wish I knew why....See MoreI see warm tones- what do you see
Comments (31)I like both of the blue paint colors, they read "masculine" and really bring out the deep jewel tones in the rug. I'm partial to the first one but I'm not sure what they look like IRL, of course. Sorry, I don't see warm tones, or pillows, or baby pictures in this room. I think a stripe in navy blue, hunter green and/or burgundy might be nice for the drapes. I think the hunting prints would be a more interesting grouping if they included one or two matted prints, maybe an old sepia tone, to change things up. I'm racking my brain trying to remember where I saw it, but a pair of round footstool/coffee tables would be more useful and practical than one of either IMO. Ditch the drapes, and the wrought iron piece (love the art poster idea). I'm not sure about the chandelier, I think I would use ivory shades. Maybe a dart game, with the appropriate cork-lined case that would open to protect the walls. A cigar cutter and ashtray on the end table. Brandy snifters and cognac on the bar. I would want a (pocket?) door installed, so that I didn't have to be disturbed by the lions den goings on, that's just me. If the man reads, he'll want a better lamp and a sturdy bookshelf, if he's a music lover, he'll need space for a stereo too....See MoreFirst time visit to IKEA - what do I need to see?
Comments (20)Ikea works really hard to make sure you don't miss anything, with a meandering floorplan that takes you through all of their room displays and vignettes. Then they take you through the shopping area for small items. Even if you want to take a shortcut to a particular section, you have to be pretty familiar with their stores to find them. If you have anything particular in mind, bring measurements. A measuring tape and pencil and paper wouldn't hurt, although they usually have ones to grab there (stubby pencils and paper measuring tape). Any of the larger things in the room displays, you will just write down the info and location of where to find it in the warehouse. Small things you can pick up along the way, especially once you get to the small goods area. The food is really good and not too expensive. If you have any kid/grandkids/nieces/nephews/ friends with kids, the kids section has some cool stuff. I've gotten their multi-colored plastic dining set for a shower gift more than once--all my mommy friends had them--and I actually like the cup size for myself....See MoreQOTD: What do you see?
Comments (11)I've been thinking about this question and even went back to my photo stash to see which quilts I've taken pictures of at shows. Initially I would have said COLOR, but not necessarily any particular color. I think for me it's really more about an intense visual impact. That could be DESIGN or COLOR or the MOVEMENT of pattern across the quilt. I love color combinations that I would not have thought of, but that work beautifully. I'm not immediately drawn to quilts with repeating blocks unless there's something else visually compelling about them. But then the intricacy of the pattern, or the quality of the work, or just the pleasing balance of it all can win me over. Although I don't use them often, quilts with white or black background fabric really appeal to me. Maybe because they make the colors so much more intense. Once I get close enough to check out points and intersections, the quality becomes the focus. And really well done applique still amazes me because I know how hard it is. Especially in a show, I expect points and intersections to match perfectly. Yes, I'm a point snob (even though mine aren't always perfect)!...See Moreeld6161
