It depends on the model you're choosing...they come in all different sizes. How deep is the model you want, and how deep is the cabinet? I just bought a GE convection MW (countertop model, but it can be used w/ a trim kit), and I couldn't find anything in the documentation about how much clearance space to leave around it for venting (which I found strange! but who knows, I might have missed it). It did say to leave 3" clear in *front* of it, to protect against tipping...so do check the manual before you decide on that cabinet. And, if you don't mind, pretty please report your findings here...I'd love to know, myself! Thanks, Chris

You can switch out the fixtures fine down the road, especially if you get LED strip lights that don't require separate transformers. Mags, maybe that's what you are thinking about. Lowes carries a nice product: Utilitech LED Under-cabinet Light Bar that you can plug-in (and hardwire if you like) with no separate transformer that you need to tuck away for the install. Problem is Joe, without the toggles (or more fastening points) cabinets on rail systems will exert too much torque and bend the rail itself between the fastening points. While this isn't likely to make them fall off the wall , it will make it difficult or impossible to keep the cabs plumb if the rail flex exceedes the adjustment in the hanging bracket - which is very possible. This usually happens where two cabinets join together and there are two brackets pulling on the rail. And guess where thet usually happens ? Right in the center of rail fastening points. Murphy's law. It's also happens at the end of an open cabinet run where there is no stud to fasten the rail too. There , you must use something like a togglebolt. Or your cabinet will just flap in the breeze. Just use the bolts or similar, the cost and time savings Joe is advocating by not using them is just too great a risk. Joe , would you hang 6.5 feet of traditional wall cabinet by only 3 screws ? I doubt it. And if say you would then your hack, which I don't think for a even a second.

Joseph Corlett hit the nail on the head. Choose your appliances in advance, but don't buy yet, and look at the specs carefully. Do not buy until near to installation. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the clock starts ticking on the warranty upon delivery, not upon installation. If you buy your appliances too far in advance of installation, you will be foregoing one, two, or more months of your warranty. Since the warranty is built into the price of your appliance, it is like throwing away money to forego it. Furthermore, if you need a repair more than 12 months after delivery, but it's only been, say, 6 months in use, good luck on that expense - it will likely be high. P.S. Echoing what Anglophilia wrote, take extra care with the dimensions of the fridge. We have had a number of threads on this forum with people not realizing that their fridge is deeper than expected, and that it's sticking out from the cabinetry much more than they'd planned. Or, conversely, the cabinetry was made an inch or so too deep so that the fridge doors can't swing open fully.
