Help me rethink my living room with a new couch...

What would you do with this space?
I want to get a softer and comfier couch that is a bit deeper and longer. I'm thinking of going from my current 78" grey couch to something perhaps 99" with a movable ottoman. And about 4" deeper than it is currently. I'm not sure how to best envision the change in my space.
Things I love:
- That big bright window with lots of sunshine. I (and my cat) love having seating by the window. Unfortunately, that corner of the room is a bad angle for watching TV. I was thinking of putting my couch and ottoman in the corner, but I'm doubtful it will work with the tv.
- My growing plant that I'm hopeful will gain some height in the coming year!
- My 6x9" rug
Things I don't like:
- How high my TV is. However, I have no really good alternatives in my space, and I have gotten used to it above my fireplace.
- The bare space above my couch will get a wall hanging when I find something that I like.
Questions I have:
- Where to position a longer couch. Left, centered, right? What kind of shape?
- How deep and wide an ottoman should be?
- Should I get rid of end tables? If so, where do I put my glass of wine? 😅
- Lighting options, particularly if I get rid of my end tables
I'm looking for bright, comfortable, relaxing, clean and not cluttered.
Feel free to give me any and all suggestions of how you would redo this space! I really need inspiration!

Please post width of room and length. Then I can do scale layout for you. Bonus, that will help define sizes of furniture that will be best. Also that will help define size of rug.

The room is 10.75 feet wide (window wall) and 13 feet long (couch wall).

Thank you all for your suggestions! @Enduring I definitely can push the TV back on the stand. I don't think I have enough room to allow the back of the sofa to be a walk way. @Immcnitt I like the idea of a console table. I'll see about playing around with the layout over the next few days. I agree with the chair in the corner, it is a bit odd. I do think the layout is TOO open now and makes the table look far to small. Hmm. @Jamie Our ceilings are too high, would the new lighting need to be shorter? @Jamie I would love a new rug in the living room for sure. I hadn't thought about a rug in the dining room, maybe that would make that space feel so open now.

Don't move the credenza then. Get an area rug, center one group of seating around fireplace and conversation and then maybe get a tea cart or something and put a small chair or two around that near the doors/windows to the outside. You can sit and sip your tea and watch the birdies outside there in the winter! When the weather gets nice you can carry the chairs out to the deck to sit in the sun! Then roll the cart out there with some cocktails later in the day!

No, I don't think it would look awful. I love big art pieces. The important thing though is do YOU like it? It's your home and it's important that it please YOU. Looking at your picture, I'm wondering if the art above the sofa isn't a tad big for that wall. (I really like it, btw.) Usually, the eye appreciates some breathing room around art. If you have painter's tape, try taping out that canvas' size above your couch and see just how much wall it covers. That might help you visualize its negative space better. I have done two layouts, one with a 90 x 40" sofa and two chairs 28x28 and one with a 84" x 40" deep sofa with same other elements. I recommend going with the 84" long sofa. You don't want to overlap arms of chairs and sofa. I'm trying to post these drawings, but having trouble with Houzz right now. I'll try later.

Option 2 with the 84" sofa, allows you to set up the sofa pretty close to opposite the fireplace/TV and it gives more "breathing" room for chairs. So sofa, 84-86" wide best and keep depth to no more than 40". The two drawings look quite similar on paper, but because I work with scale drawings all the time, I can see these "details" that are very clear to me. I would like to know the length of the wall to the right of the fireplace. That would help me refine that wall length.

Thanks. I guessed about your scale. I put it in my drawings as 4’ wide by 18”. So about right. You could do small sectional (very compact) and one chair but it will eat up whole room.

I love fireplaces personally and yours looks so nice. In addition to having that ladder shelf on 1 side, I would put a tall potted plant on the other side, right in the corner.

I googled "tall potted plant living room fireplace" and so many of them look similar to yours! White is in now.

I think your couch is too short. Work with the length of the room and get a longer couch (3 seats instead of 2 or whatever)

If you can remove that shelf above the fireplace, you can place your tv directly on the fireplace. That will help with the height.

Definitely keep the end tables! I would put a tall lamp on/near the end table closest to the window maybe

TBH I would reupholster or swap out that side chair just because I don't think it goes with the decor of the fireplace and other things. You can get chair covers from IKEA and stuff that's cheaper.

Just my thoughts :)

If you flip your chaise orientation so it is next to your dining room you could then add a small console opposite for a more comfortable viewing height for TV watching and be able to put your feet up as well. A chair placed in front of your window similar to the second picture would give you a space to look out the window especially if it was a swivel chair. Bonus if you find a chair with a relatively wide back so your cat can have a spot to look out the window and better to keep the chair back (height) low to help preserve your view as well. The space above your sofa is a great spot to add a mirror to reflect both natural light and your outdoor view.
