I'm in the desert and will definitely have clear skies tonight. The eclipse starts here at 7:30, when the moon starts to rise, and ends before midnight. I have a tripod here, and so I should be able to take photos. However, here the eclipse starts a few minutes before the moon will rise.

I'll be missing it too. But that's ok after the past week of high summer it's nice to return to the usual May weather for a few days again. I'm looking forward to a couple days of reasonable mowing weather, lol.

We'll probably miss it also! We were soooo looking forward to seeing it. Albuquerque's claim to fame: 300 days of sunshine every year! Huuummmppphh! Today would have to be one of the cloudy days!

Today's newspaper said our area and half of the US will probably miss it due to clouds and showers. But there is another one on Nov. 8.

Here's a weather report. This will show the percentage of cloud cover in various cities. For Los Angeles, it is predicted to be 5% cloud cover, and so I asked my brother to take photos. I think the cloud cover in Palm Springs will be somewhat less, but it depends on what the winds bring. The report predicts cloud cover here to be between 6% and 3% for the eclipse, and that sounds rather minimal.

The downside is that it is currently 106° here, and I have to wait until 5 PM to go in the pool, to avoid the sun. I guess I could wear sunscreen and go in a bit earlier.

Clouds and showers? It's pouring down rain here and has been much of the afternoon. We won't be seeing the eclipse. Sigh.

It starts at 2.30 am here. ☹️ But there’s thick cloud and thunder at the moment (23.45) so I doubt there will be much to see even if one wakes up for it.

Seems like any time there is a celestial event, the skies around here immediately get cloudy. Clouds and rain tonight, big storms tomorrow.

It WAS looking good, but not so now. We're two or three hours away, and have clouds. Drat

Here's how my skies looked at 6:20 PM

East view, where the moon will rise - some light clouds near the horizon, and so the moon rising might be somewhat obscured at first.

West view, of the setting sun - no clouds on that horizon, but there is a mountain in the way.

OT - Lars, we always used to tease my DF who was such a lover of the prairies that when he went to visit my sisters in Vancouver, he said the mountains got in the way of the view!

A huge rain cell just passed here in central FL, but's it's solid clouds now. Maybe they'll clear before the total eclipse?

We have an awesome view in Houston.

It's blurry, but the sky was perfectly clear. It looked much better in person. Maybe my brother got better photos in L.A.

Slight indication through the clouds of where the moon was shortly after it came up, but by 11 and midnight it was fully obpscured by the clouds.

Thanks for the photos....I went outside last night and just before it started, the cloud deck moved in. Woke up around 11:30 to check it out and it was raining. :(

No luck here, a thunderstorm passed over at it's peak.

O-o-o-h! Thanks, KT friends! Now I'm upset because I'd given up on seeing this, yet when I made a potty run at 1:15 a.m., lo and behold, the moon was blindingly high in a *perfectly clear* sky! Nuts. I coulda, shoulda, but I'd written it off.

It was clear here in southern New Mexico. I opened my front door and watched it from the couch.

chisue, I looked outside about 11:30 and it was cloudy. Then this morning I saw a post from someone just south in HP, sometime about midnight, and they caught it between clouds, must have just bren starting to clear!

No photos here, but DH and I sat outside watching the eclipse and sipping Margaritas. It was a beautiful quiet and, for the most part, clear night here. Thankfully, the wind held off until after midnight, but then got very bad again.

We watched it, full eclipse at 10:29 PM, very cool. As we were sitting out on the dock, the lake was glass still and the loons were calling, just magical. I looked over towards the west night sky and saw what appeared to be about 60-100 stars all in a row traversing across the sky at a very fast pace. All 3 of us watched in amazement, one way watching the "stars" and the other way watching the eclipse. When we got back into the house DD looked up what it could be and turns out the stars were actually Starlink satellites racing across the sky. There is a schedule of when they will be visible, and are usually visible for about 2 minutes a couple times a night.

I got a blurry picture of it. I watched it for awhile, but clouds were moving in. We had rain during the night.
