what kind of dining set would work well with dark wooden floors?

Going for a mix between transitional and modern. The kitchen has white marble countertops and I would prefer to not get another white marble to compete. (Ignore current furniture as they are not ours).

Maybe you’ll have a rug under a new table to help define the space? A sisal would be nice texture with a wood table …..depending on your style and furnishings in the rest of the open space. Then you could bring in a textured (woven) counter stool, again depending on your taste. I think the countertops are quartz, not marble.

Yikes! Some of those stools are expensive. I think I'd like to stay in the $100-$150 at most per stool range. Even that sounds $ to me. Thank you palimset and ajsmama for your suggestions. Palimset, so you think the Kathy Ireland stools could work? I'm curious if you think I could add some of the matching dining chairs to our set. Thank you, thank you! I now have a good list to bring with me to the hardware store today. :-) We won't be able to go with wallpaper at this stage in the game, but we can pick any paint color at this point. To answer a question, our floors will be white oak with a pale, water-based finish by Vermont Naturals. One of the room colors (already picked) adjacent to the hallway is Ben Moore's Heavenly Blue in the dining room. Sigh. Nope. You have a peachy-gray floor tile downstairs and a flaming red/orange/brown floor upstairs. There is really no match. The ONLY thing I can think of = ebony coloured floors. Sigh. Yep. Wood that is SOOOOOO dark it almost looks painted (match the dark grout lines). This is really the only thing that will pull these two floors "together". And living with a SUPER DARK floor is HELL. I wouldn't recommend it. You have a very good eye for complimenting the tile. The vinyl floor you have chosen is a beautiful match to the tiled floors. If this is your MAIN floor and the tiles are STAYING FOR 15 YEARS OR MORE, then I would suggest you IGNORE the Santos Mahogany and run the floor you want into the space. But IF YOU PLAN on removing the tile in the next 5-7 years, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you stop and take a breath. You will need to sit down and figure out what direction you want to the space to take when the tiles are removed. If you are doing renovations 1 step at a time, you BETTER HAVE a 7 year renovation plan IN PLACE. That plan will include COLOURS. You will want to create a story board (just like they do when making movies or TV shows) that documents what COLOURS you want things to be at the END of the 7 year plan. Whew. This decorating stuff is not as easy as it looks! And then the next question becomes, how long are you planning to keep the Santos Mahogany?

I can' imagine why a wood door warranty would be voided because of the size of the roof overhang. Who told you that? If it true, why would you be considering that door company? If you are concerned about weather protection, there are PVC, aluminum and fiberglass clad wood French doors available. Who told you swinging French door tend to leak? Compared to what? ... Sliding doors? Are you on the ocean or in a hurricane zone? What brand of door are you considering? This sounds like the same misinformation issue you're having with the warranty. I've put multiple French doors in a row with two steps down to a narrow walkway immediately outside of the doors with no roof overhang. If the view is important, casement windows are not a good option. For a horizontal view you should have wide windows. You could save a lot of money with a row of 4 large double-hung windows. If you have an architect involved, why aren't you getting better information?

I had same issues as you! I looked forever!

In person, it’s more white with hint of gray. It goes beautifully with white marble countertops and white cabinets. I went with a different chair, but I like the one shown as well.

Just these few pictures demonstrate how much the table can change the vibe of your home…i like the idea of a simple but chunky wood table…more casual…but a rug and chairs for the table should be chosen more from a function aspect…no rug is easier for sliding the chairs in and out…and more practical if the table becomes a …sort of …multi purpose gathering place…if you want a rug ,then lighter weight chairs would function much better…if you have children…a rug will be bigger chore to keep up with drips and spots….lastly the seating for the island should reflect the table seating…
