Can you use the darker gray on the SW house color chit as the step and deck color?

I would definitely do the back deck in the light French grey…it will look clean & crisp for the sale (new owmers can deal with leaf stains in the fall!😂)

So the front steps aren’t brick or stone? I’d minimize them as much as possible by painting them black.

That is a darling house…I am sure it will sell the minute it hits the market! The palette looks like a UGA football uniform (grey (silver) pants, red jersey with black accents.😂 ) Maybe an alum will buy it!

You might try SW 7670 Gray Shingle for the steps and deck floor.

What material are the steps made of?

I guess if they're moving they won't care that paint and solid stains don't hold up well on horizontal surfaces like decks and stairs. If the back deck has already been painted then not much choice but to do it again but if it was my house I'd choose a transparent or semi transparent stain in a gray tone for the front steps.

The stairs are pressure treated pine, which is what the previous steps were also. The steps really needed to be rebuilt when they bought the house several years ago. They’ve always been painted, I think. The common practice in our area is to add sand to the paint for the treads so it won’t be slippery when wet.

Leaning towards same light color for large back deck to better tie it into the structure, that was my thought too Nini.

I agree with just_terrilynn. I learned that when it comes to outdoor "flooring", you want to go really dark grey or the sun brightens it and winds up looking too close to concrete. go darker than you think.

Their backyard is very shaded with oak trees over 100 years old. They are designated as ”hero” trees by the city. I did a very messy mock up with the house color and a darker gray, and the former seems to make that deck look more like part of the house.

I looked at Shingle Gray and it has a decided blue undertone, so I went to the SW site to look at all the grays. So far I really like Dovetail for the stair treads. Any thoughts? This would go on the front stairs for everything except the side railings and newel posts. Here is the morpholio board with new color added:

If they are painting solely for the purpose of listing, I would ask a/their realtor for input on colors.

LyfiaLydia, they wanted to duplicatethe finishes that were on the house when they bought it. Mtn, their realtor suggested a medium to light gray for the house. Their neighbors have doors of every color and their next door neighbor recently painted his door to nearly match theirs. There isn't yet a red door on the street, and they went with this almost raspberry color I suggested as an alternative to the darker red they liked.

I am going to forward this color for the stairs to her and see what she thinks. The dominant color in the area is green, from the trees and grass, so hopefully the light gray will be a good contrast. White would have been my first choice but close neighbors with a similar house just painted theirs white.

Got to say that's a cute house no matter what the color is!
