wall color for a white kitchen
Hi i need to pick color for my walls in my kitchen. It has a lot of light cabinets and backsplash are all white ( cambria smithfield) i’ll have dark walnut accents on the hood and 4 wall shelves. Would you do a dark green or dark grayish blue or leave it a light color?

Comments (77)Hi cv2014, I still love the look of our Semihandmade walnut, to me it's very warm. We briefly looked into having Semihandmade make panels for the side and the back of the island, but we wanted a more substantial edge and it just seemed like we'd have better luck getting it to all work out if we hired a finish carpenter to do the job. We're very happy with how it turned out. You can go to almost any good lumber store and purchase a full sheet of walnut veneer for not a lot of $$s. Depending on where it's used, it could be ok if it doesn't match perfectly with the Semihandmade walnut. The corner cabinet has a filler piece, I think it was around 4 inches, that gives enough clearance so that the cabinet door can open without worrying about having it hit the door to the right. In my case I think I was also concerned about clearance so it wouldn't hit the oven handle as well. That was solved by making the pull-out next to the over slightly wider than originally planned. These are the older Ikea cabinet style, so I'm not sure if the new style has the same kind of corner cabinet or not. Comments (42)BM London Fog. It looks great against our white cabinets and our quartz is VERY close to your color from what I can tell. The London Fog matches the background tone of the quartz nicely and the white cabinets give it a fresh, clean, updated look. Not the best picture because our deck outside casts a pink tone to our wall, but you can see the quartz, wall color and white door in this pic to see how they work together. Comments (8)No problem, and thank you! Our kitchen was previously a garage so it really came a long way! It was quite the renovation. Our cabinet doors are from Semihandmade. I’m not sure whether they would be standard or full overlay. The doors and drawers completely cover the cabinet frame though. Comments (13)Geige is an incredibly broad term. It is like saying green. Lime Green or Forest Green, Teal or Emerald. Here is a list of a variety of Greige colors by Benjamin Moore Abalone Ashford Greige Ashley Gray Balboa Mist Broxburn Greige Collingwood Edgecomb Gray Gettysburg Gray Mineral Mortar Pale Oak Revere Pewter Shale Go into your local Benjamin Moore dealer and ask for paper samples of all of these colors. Pick a few dozen more that are in the same families. Take your samples outside on a sunny day, lay your flooring, countertop and cabinet samples on a white sheet and lay the paper samples of each of the above colors next to the samples. Note what you like and don't like. If you can find the right color you can always pick something a bit lighter or darker, but getting the rigjht mix of brown and gray and the right undertone is something that you will need to do with your samples. I love your greenish grey accent wall idea. I am not loving the smoke grey paint above, but your opinion is what counts!
I think a tad lighter and more green would let the beautiful walnut shelves stand out better.
I picked the color BM Intrigue as an example. Maybe this will help give you an idea of how it might look. But you would definitely have to try it out in your space. I added the smaller picture in the corner so you can see how the the lighter or darker shades come out depending on lighting and the direction the wall faces.

last yearHi Rebunky- i got the intrigue and carolinas Gull and painted a little i think we will go with the gull as its softer. Thank you again for your help. What would you do the other walls that surround it? I found a nice white. White Heron but i’m not 100 sure.

last yearI realized i thanked you in another thread!! Rebunky special thanks to you- still some details are missing like light fixtures and there is an issue with our fridge doors but here it is!!! I used vanilla milkshake instead of white heron and used the gull for the accent wall. I think it looks exactly as you’ve sent me :) thank you again for your help and wonderful ideas!
