Greige is the question.. Need houzz help with paint color..
Help with a greige color choice.. has to be light greige.. yes greige.. the tiles are a greige color.. with grey and hints of brown.. the floor is called classico blanco.. I am trying to pick up the lightest color of the tile for the walls and the trim in the house (crown, base, doors & windows) will be a pure white.. ceiling color will be a 50/50 mix of wall color and white.. kitchen cabinets are a truffle brown.. counters are creamy lg quartz soprano.. the wall and floor will be the open plan family room, game room, kitchen & dining room (laundry and bathroom will be white and my office will be a shade of blue).. LVR needs to be 50 or above.. I originally wanted white walls but that would make the house too white.. furniture will be wood tones.. accessories will be navy blue (sofa, pillows, art, pool table felt, etc..) we tried SW amazing grey and it is too dark.. we tried MB silver sierra and it was too grey blue; we tried a 50/50 amazing grey / white and it was still to dark / greenish.. looking for a warm greige with no green undertone.. don't mind that green wall behind the door panel. that is my old wall color.. hence why i do not want any green anything anymore.. :-)

photo 2 is floor / trim / 25 - 75 mix of amazing grey & white with a blue shirt for contrast because I thought it would help me.. sorry for the rambling..

Comments (14)I have tried the app. For some reason it doesn’t capture the color... for some reason in the picture it does look similar. But in real life it looks a lot more taupe I want to show you guys something. The big horseshoe shape is the human gamut of color - it's a diagram representing all the colors we can see. It's one 'slice' from a 3 dimensional color space. Which means it's kind of like an infographic for a color space that includes every color. All tints, tones, shades, whites, grays, neutral, etc. Every color you can name is present and accounted for in that horseshoe. The black triangle inside shows us the average range of colors that our devices are able to light up and display for us to see. Using red, green and blue channels of light your phone, tablet, computer is only able to display a fraction of the colors we see in real life. The RGB color space doesn't include the dimensions of Value or Chroma. It makes no effort to mimic how humans perceive color. All it does is mix together red, green and blue channels of light to make a small range of colors. If a color is outside that black triangle, then an algorithm will 'clip' it to make it fit. In other words the algorithm will find the closest match inside the black triangle and then display THAT color. The colors we see in real life aren't lit up and emitted to our eyeballs. Colors in real life are reflected light to our eyeballs. Two different visual experiences. That's a big difference. So, your device has a limited number of colors it can display and the colors it can produce are emitted to your eyeballs which is a different kind of visual sensation than how you experience color in real life. Those are the two main reasons those apps do not work, will never work and are a complete waste of time. Are the paint companies lying to you? Sort of. I think it's a mix of lack of transparency and color expertise. I just bought the "stone" color swivel chair even though I knew I should get some color in there and I almost changed the fabric on the ottoman even though it would be $$ due to special order. Comments (30)You say you will be replacing your furniture in a few years. I advise you take some time to read any thing and everything about decorating. Look at magazines for furniture style, colors, patterns ...in short educate your self on what you like. Investigate fabrics...not plastics fabrics ...to see what wonderful colors and textures they come in...and most fabrics are now protected with ScotchGuard or some thing similar. cabinets are brown / counter is lg viatera soprano quartz / floors are MSI Classico Blanco - paid for and to be delivered next week;
white primed walls / raw cement floors
color on wall is SW amazing grey 25% / white 75% test mix..

am going to paint store this weekend with the tile in hand.. yes i am agonizing because it is open plan entire first floor to be painted (about 1350 square feet) and i am super color challenged when it comes to paint colors.. photo below is afternoon natural light.. that room is 23 long by 18 wide..

5 years agoYou really need to get a lot of chips of colors and bring them home. The natural light and lighting you have in a room, shadows changes the way it looks in your room. seeing a color on a monitor or even in someone else's room isn't the same. I used a valspar "smoked oyster" in my home and really like the color but it looks different room to room if you sit in one and look into the next. My husband painted every room in this house so far except the bathrooms. I choose this color because I had it in our last home and knew it would work with all my furniture. Every room in this house was a beige but in most lighting I saw pink I hated it. the best thing is to look at friends places and open houses then ask about what a color is if you like it. This first picture is the realtor picture. second is same room painted smoked oyster. Last is the living room and sun room that look like 2 different colors but are actually the sam color from the same 5 gallon paint bucket just interesting to me
