Funny, I feel like gold jewelry reflects warmly on skin - the opposite of 'washed out'.

Metallics are neutral and go well with all colors. I'm more blond and yet wear lots of silver toned jewelry.

My hair is so white, it almost acts like a mirror. I seldom wear jewelry, but when I do, it is silver.

I heard it depends on if your skin type. Like I am a summer type and supposed to wear silver, but my favorite is rose gold, silver, gun metal then gold.

I've morphed into wearing sliver jewelry as I've aged, but not because of my hair color. I have plenty of gold jewelry from the 80's and early 90's but it's formal and stuffy to me. I like more creative, funky things now and it's easier to find in silver pieces.

Well, I do not have gray hair, but I wear whatever I want, in whatever color, finish, fabric, metal I want. I do not suspect that will ever change, even when my appearance does.

There "was" a trend when everyone hated gold tone jewelry. A lot of it's vintage. Unique! Small & classy! I prefer it!

I have silver hair and wear silver jewelry. Actually, I wear very little but I do always have a delicate silver necklace on that I bought from a Canadian jeweler years ago.

Remember the 70s/80s when we were all finding out what season we were?! What I recall is that isn't something that changes just because you age or your hair color changes. I do think color matters in looking our best but I don't wear enough metal on me that it could 'wash me out'. Maye if one wore a collar of chains that filled one's ample décolletage but that's not an every day look. I will continue to wear what ever metal tone the rest of my outfit inspires. I am just not a one note woman.

All my gold jewelry was stolen years before my hair turned grey, so it hasn't been a dilemma for me. I wear silver. Since I prefer natural gemstones to sparkly ones most of the time, it's been a relatively easy transition.

Wear what makes you happy.

I think either looks good with grey hair. The blend of silver hair and gold jewelry is lovely and the white gold, platinum, silver or rhodium is a sparkly monochrome with gray hair. I do both and I think it looks good!

Same with me. Years ago I had my colors done and found I was a ”Summer.” I remember being skeptical about the whole thing, but it was both interesting and helpful. I do wear the Summer colors and a lot of silver jewelry. Easy since I preferred them to begin with. However, I do have gold jewelry I love and wear.

I wouldn't go too far in thinking that everything needs to match everything else, whether the concern is personal appearance, room decor, or whatever.

There is truth to some colors not looking good with different skin tones for sure. I think with jewelry though, it's such a small amount of presence that it doesn't really make that much difference. I will wear gold or silver and I don't see much of any difference how I look in either, I mean a little necklace isn't going to make much difference...BUT, don't put a yellow blouse on me...UGH, I will look like I'm sickly!

If you like gold wear it! If you like silver wear it! At our age, does it really matter?

@arkansas girl, I can relate to that. I used to think yellow was a good color for me. I remember the color consultant all those years ago telling me to watch my face as she draped me in a very pale yellow fabric. I thought it looked okay. Then she told me to watch my face as she draped me in my more favorite shade of lemon yellow. I watched all the color drain from my face. I’ve never even worn the pale yellow since then.

All nonsense. Wear what you want. And as for ditching jewellery you like and buying new because of some daft ’rule’... whaaaat???

You reminded me of being in the 8th grade. My mother bought me a blouse which I didn't like, but she made me wear it anyway. It was a sickly yellow beige color. My science teacher was trying to explain about liver function and jaundice. Then he said, "Your skin turns the color of Annie's blouse." Thanks so much! Never wore that blouse again!

For goodness sake, you are old enough to do what you want. Wear what pleases you -- you have earned it. My own hair has shades of both blond and grey and I wear both gold and silver, alternately, depending on my mood.

I do wear red lipstick because I like it!
