Why is my house electrical panel on the outside?
Comments (22)"I put the ties on my garage doors. Then those posed a problem for me during a power outage. Possibly a problem in case of fire. My garage ceilings are almost 10 feet tall. A ladder and cutting tool should be kept at hand in such instances." Most people keep their tools in the garage so having a pair of cutters close by is not a problem. Just make sure family members know what to do. I can easily reach the wire tie on mine. Of course, having tools in the garage also works out well for the bad guys once they get in there. Makes it so much easier for them to get into the rest of the house. Adds insult to injury for the homeowners. Upon closer examination I'm starting to see that moving the panel to the inside of the garage wall would be easy. All the wiring enters from the top through one conduit within the wall, so in theory it could be rotated around to face the inside wall and remounted without even having to rewire it (after cutting the power of course). I still need to check with some electricians and see about permits and follow-up inspections, plus how to re-stucco the outside wall....See MoreNeed major inspiration for modern house which is not my typical style!
Comments (3)There is little difference in decorating from one style to the other. It's just in the details NO small accessory items scattered throughout. Be thoughtful in what you select to place in the rooms. If the house is open concept then you're not going to be changing paint colors from room to room. Here are contemporary homes decorated for comfort and layered to add texture to the spaces....See MoreCan I put a modern front door on my 1978 house?
Comments (23)Thanks so much Hallet & Co. I was thinking the same that the door would look better from the outside. It sounds crazy but we hadn’t even though of swapping out the other doors, but I like that suggestion. For the other interior doors, would you recommend the same style door as the front door, just without the glass or would you recommend a plain slab door? Also, when you say paint the trim so the floors are the star, what do you suggest?...See MorePlease help me with my modern house plans
Comments (16)You say you are "very particular (with what you have in mind)," and we do not know about what or how or if that was communicated to your architect. The facade has symmetry forced onto it, and to alter that requires changes made in concert with the floor plans/sections. There could also be design elements, like the MCM garage doors, that you may have mentioned to the architect. This impasse deserves more homework prep from you and then another sit down with the architect to get closer to where you want to be....See Morehoussaon
