Remodeling Design Dilemma Kitchens

How does Hanstone Calacatta Gold compare to Silestone’s Calacatta Gold

I thought I was set on LG Viatera’s Calacatta Plata which we liked because it’s bright white but it now worries us that we may see every speck of stain on that bright white Quartz countertop.
I went to see the full slab of the Silestone Calacatta gold and the white looks slightly greyish, compared to a “real” white quartz. I am not sure if I like the Silestone CG since it’s not white-white but off white. I wonder if anyone has compared the Hanstone CG against the Silestone CG and can tell me if the Hanstone one is white, rather than off white with a greyish undertone?
Does anyone have the Hanstone CG installed and can post pics? That would be very helpful. Thank you.

I am not sure what you want from us . IMO the stains would show the same and I never advise my clients to go quartz for a kitchen counter . There are so many awesome white natural stones I never understand why anyone would want plastic fake stone.

Well, I’m not forcing anyone to comment, so why do you feel
obligated to comment on my post?? I noticed that you never answer the question people ask about but instead give your standard answer of telling people to go with natural stone instead of quartz and blah blah. There are many reasons why quartz is very popular in kitchens, even though it’s not perfect. You didn’t need to understand it… I’m
just looking for feedback on whether one manufacturer’s stone is better than others, while still getting the look I want for my kitchen. And if you don’t like quartz then you don’t have to use it. Simple, right?! If people ask about quartz and you don’t like quartz, why don’t you just keep on scrolling instead of giving unsolicited advice about something totally different?!

I also have honed Carrara marble on my island and love it. Everyone literally says wow when they walk into my kitchen. It's been installed for a few months, but have only been using it for the last month. I will admit that I have been babying it a bit, because I've been a little nervous about it staining. However, we have had some spills, drips, etc. and all have wiped right up and some have even been wiped later and it still is clean/stain-free. I don't think I have any obvious etching yet. Perhaps a small scratch or too, but I actually think that was done during the fabrication. I really do love it and I'm sure it won't "babied" as much as time goes on. It was sealed before and after installation. And I also clean it with just warm water and sometimes a little dish soap. Here is a picture before we moved in.

Thanks Iris. The kitchen has been a long time in the making. Our 6 month building permit is due to expire in a week or two. Luckily we will be finishing up this week - all but the backsplash and some details in the butler's pantry anyway. They just did the floors over the weekend so some things are covered with plastic or pads for protection. Here are some photos of what we have right now. Some Details about the kitchen: Crystal custom cabinets with inset doors, country classic door style. Perimeter cabinets are Frost White with Van Dyke brown highlights. Island & butler's pantry are cherry with black highlights. Floors are varied width oak floors to match existing. Sink is Ticor SS508 (bought based on rave reviews from this site) So far I love the sink but have been unable to get the grid for it from Galaxy Tool Supply. I've been waiting 4 months for it at this point. Still holding out hope on receiving it. Range is Wolf 6 burner gas. Ovens are Thermador Professional Series electric. Fridge is 42" SZ side by side. Microwave is Sharp 24" drawer.

Has anybody had Caesarstone calacatta nuvo countertop installed?

What are good wall colors for this combination? I'm installing a Calacatta Novo countertop with white high-gloss IKEA upper cabinets and Voxtorp walnut look base cabinets. Using simple 3x6 white subway tiles for backsplash with gray grout and Rawtech white tiled floor (looks like light concrete). I'm thinking of introducing some greige to shake things up instead of a more typical white like Simply White or Cloud Nine (which looks great in the pictures above!) - Worn Leather Shoe, Upper West Side, or Quicksand looked interesting in the Benjamin Moore online program. Any tips?

When we have issues we swap out our problems at our own expense rather than going to the quartz manufactures for the simple fact of getting the clients problem resolved ASAP. The longer they have to look at their issue the harder it is to smooth it over in the end. If need be we will make the claim for slab reimbursement after. How ever not all fabricators have enough inventory or cash flow to do this. That’s why when you select your fabricator stay away from the low ball pricing because when they do mess up your story ends up here on Houzz. Look for an automated fabrication process with their own slab inventory, photo layouts, cnc saws and cnc edging. A company that invests in this kind of set up is in it for the long haul and will settle dilemmas quickly. As for quartz quality not all quartz is the same. I personally worked with a very long list of products. What makes the difference is the finish on the surface. Hold the a sample on an angle towards a light and look at the reflexion. If you see a high mirror finish gloss your ok if you see a sandy grain finish it will be stubborn to keep clean.

K H, how did you resolve your dilemma? I'm in the same situation now in terms of selecting quarts -- wanting somethin with veins of gold as well as grey, so I cam upon your question.

Hi Jacki, after lots of back and forth, we decided to go with Silestone’s Calacatta Gold. It’s been 10 months now since we had it installed and are very happy with our choice. We asked the fabricator to have us see the actual slab and told him to pick slabs that have as little gold flecks as possible, and he delivered! I’m convinced that the LG Viatera white would have been too “starchy” white and would make the kitchen appear “cold”. We used quartz as backsplash, waterfall edges and all countertops. Zero regrets. Easy to keep clean and no stains as of now.
