Paint Windows Design Dilemma

i am looking for help to pick paint colors and possibly add shutters (if thats still a thing). we are in a cul-de-sac and all the houses are similiar, smaller lots though this picture is taken from the sidewalk. the house on the right is yellow, and left is light blue, directly across is a dark blue.

im kind of entertaining the idea of a 2 tone just to spice it up. id love a portico someday, and we have invested in landscaping abutting the house. wood siding, the front gets alot of sun amd ive seen some houses in our hood fade quickly after painting dark colors. were in (massachsetts), suburbs. TIA

Yes, I think grey with black shutters would be nice, or a dark blue shutter. Some foundations plantings in front would give the house a lift. And a small tree in line with the right corner of the house (but far enough from it to be safe for the foundation) would add some life too. You have a nice house! Diane

The color is a custom mix. I always loved the color of a certain house in a nearby neighborhood, so when I saw the owner working in the yard I stopped and asked her about the color. She said it was a custom mix from the previous owner, and sent me to the local paint shop where they had the color on file. If I can find a can with the details, I'll post a pic. It's the perfect greige. Not too gray, not too beige, and it looks great in all lighting.

Nice looking brick. I wouldn't touch it. Don't take a no maintenance product and turn it into a long term maintenance issue. #1: The shutters are not appropriate for the size of your windows. I would remove and not replace them. #2: Would you consider changing the color of the siding? A darker tone that works better with the brick (gray, taupe, blue, etc.) would make the house seem more cohesive. #3: Windows look fairly new so I would leave them as is. #4: I would remove the large shrub/tree in front of the triple window and replace it with something smaller. Actually most of the landscaping looks older so I would think about replacing everything but the tree at the right corner of the house. #5: Can't tell from your picture but I would paint the door a color that makes it a focal point and draws the eye to the entrance. Most of these are fairly inexpensive changes. A more expensive one would be adding a porch over the front door to add some depth to the facade. Yikes! Removing four large trees? Hope you have some budget left. :-( I think you can achieve your inspiration pic. Love how the paint on your brick has weathered off. Re the azaleas, once you cut down the trees, you should have more light. Cut the azaleas practically to the ground and they will come back in a few years to full bushes again. If not, then start over. Spraying them for azalea scale once they are back will help them thrive. Lots of fun projects ahead for you.

You have a lovely classic colonial home! My first thought is no shutters--you don't seem to have enough room, and there usually weren't shutters on that style. Also, I wouldn't do two-tone, and don't worry about the neighboring homes--do what you like with yours!

I love a red clapboard colonial, like this one, with a black door (but not necessarily black mullions on the windows).

I actually like the color the house is. However, the door could be a nicer brighter color. You could use short railings going down the front steps. They could be a bit dangerous, particularly in the winter time. You definitely need more landscaping, and maybe some smaller type ornamental trees in the front yard. No shutters. Your style house didnt have shutters originally, and they would make it look very busy, if you added them. There should be a walkway (most likely stepped type) from the front door down to the drive way. You may also need a railing on them, since that is a pretty steep incline.

I would choose a red, no shutters, you don't have room.
