Entry Way Ideas (Small Area with 2 doors)

Hello everyone,

Let me start off by saying please ignore the mess! (House is still under renovations and we are just trying to figure out where to put everything).

But, I am not sure what to do with this area. We have two doors on either side and a window. The door to the left side of the photo opens up towards the wall. This is the entry area of our home.

I was thinking of putting a bench or some seating, but I’m not sure if that would work. I appreciate any ideas!

If the door on the left is a coat closet.........Take the door off the closet and turn that into your mudroom. No room for a bench and using the closet will get all the shoes off the floor and give you that bench.

Change out coats and shoes seasonally and then toss, donate, or sell every season.

I am no lighting expert, but my thought is that this will be too small for 10' ceilings. I am building a new home with 10' ceilings too and I know this will be a consideration for me when I choose my lighting. I think there is probably some ratio or rule of thumb on size--maybe do a Google search?

I would find another place for this table. I would do a floating shelf so that it can span across the carpet and hardwood. I would remove that small corner piece. Do you really need this table here? Do you enter your house here and want a place to throw your keys, etc? If you usually enter through another door and don't need this table, then you can keep the large mirror, but center it on that wall.

The first think I'd do is remove the rubbermaid container and shoes. Is there room for a small bench with a shelf beneath (for shoes)? Something like this.... I like the basket on the wall and the small table. Take everything off the table except for one nice plant. You have wall space in there for a couple of decorative/seasonal signs. Replace your current rugs with something more colorful and your done!

You could even get a piece of plywood or something and paint it the color of your wall and tack it over the landlords door...it will fade into the background. If you move, you can take it down with no problem. A couch and couple of chairs will give you lots of "decorating room" and you can make a cozy room.

Hi, the door on the right leads to an entrance way for our tenant upstairs, so that is off limits and the door to the left leads downstairs to the basement which is for the downstairs rental unit. What is shown in the picture is literally the only space I’m working with, unfortunately, which has been a challenge! Just looking for ideas what I can put on that wall.

Ikea has a shoe cabinet that may work on that wall. It is narrow, so most of your shoes should work in there. The ones that don't can go on the shoe mat.

Add a mirror or art over the cabinet.
