Furniture Design Dilemma living room

How to arrange furniture 3 Entry ways, small living room.

So, I'm having a big issue trying to figure out how to arrange the furniture in the living room so that it doesn't seem so small and cluttered. I'm selling the sectional and trying to figure out what exactly to replace it with AND where to put everything. Our front door opens into the living room and then we have a door to our hallway and then to our kitchen. As well as an unused door that goes to our landlords apartment. I'm looking for a smaller couch, and potentially some accent chairs but would love any feedback on where to put them.

Try adding a floor plan with dimensions and maybe you'll get some help. I'm no designer, but the wall with the landlord's door (I'm assuming) looks like a good spot for a couch.

yes, it looks like you have 3 walls to put the tv on. we want to pull your sofa out and make it closer to the tv. but like a drawing would help a lot.

Definitely no to two conversation areas, but yes to opening it up and taking advantage of the entire space. I'm not sure how far you are on your selections, but Ethan Allen offers Complementary Design services with your purchase, and I can honestly say working one on one with someone to create a tailored, cohesive space for you down to the exact measurements and circulation of a space plan is very valuable for pieces you want to own and fit for a long time. I like the idea of sofa + 2 chairs or Sectional + 1 or 2 small chairs.... not everything has to match, just balance well!

Hi Judy, thanks for visiting my post! 1. I hope this photo helps visualize what I mean. The green is where the couch currently sits and the red is where I would like to put the island. The blue is where I would like to put some sort of bookshelf or bench. 2. I was just trying to say I would like the living area to be as welcoming as possible when people enter the living space. I guess even if we do just one sofa in the far area (since we will eventually get rid of the pullout couch), what kind of set up would make sense for the entry way? Even if we are looking at getting new furniture.

A drawing would definitely help. A smaller sofa with 2 comfy chairs sounds great but placement could vary once a drawing is done. You might consider a large, freestanding mirror or some sort of wall art in front of the door that leads to the landlords quarters. Again, a sketch would definitely help.

If you were allowed to paint the landlords door and frame the same color as the wall, the door would visually "disappear". How many people usually sit in this room?

It looks like if you got a couch and two chairs you could do a better layout. Then put the TV where your bookshelf and plant currently are.

You could even get a piece of plywood or something and paint it the color of your wall and tack it over the landlords door...it will fade into the background. If you move, you can take it down with no problem. A couch and couple of chairs will give you lots of "decorating room" and you can make a cozy room.
