Look what I got on clearance! What should I do with them?
Comments (21)Thanks for sharing my excitement. It's amazing how gardeners go gaga over a good deal. Yes, they are stained a light green, a nice "blending" color. Dani, I love your post on the different colors every year. I had already thought that maybe I will paint them each different colors (like my ladders) but wonder if that will be too crazy looking. I probably will after the first two years when they need a refresher. Iris9 - yup, the same one from Lowe's. I like your idea of clematis, and at least one will have a clematis winding through it. I'm thinking half will be flowers, half veggies - scarlet runner beans, sweet peas, cucumbers, etc. The fun is that I get to change it every year. The Black-eyed susans are doing great this year and are HUGE! It's all the rain that they love. And yes I will post photos :-) Been too busy this summer to post much, but winter's coming, when I have more time to garden daydream....See MoreLook at what I found when I got home!
Comments (12)I think just about all forms of australis that I've seen have had a red marking behind the corona, but depending on light conditions flowers can be more or less colorful. I've seen Hoya siamica solid white and with red behind the corona and I once had red dots on the corona lobes of my Hoya limoniaca.... Quoting a well known Hoya grower "colour is not a good indicator to a species" The reason I think it looks like ssp. tenuipes (it could be something else as there are so many varieties) is mainly that the plant looks completely glabrous but also the color of the leaves and new growth... not forgetting that it's also the most common australis in trade which probably affects my opinion. However, I've never seen a (correctly identified) ssp. australis that wasn't pubescent....See MoreLook! Look what I got!
Comments (20)Stemn, I still haven't received your mailing address so that I can send you some seeds. I would love to send you some. I'll include some instruction too for you. Please do get me your mailing address. And it's the same here as with what Karyn said. Not really anywhere to buy them here, except about thirty miles from here there is a plumeria nursery I have been to once. None of the other nursery around here sells them, or even heard of them. I went in to one of them once, stated I am a plumeriaholic, and they didn't even know what a plumeria was. Blew me away someone working in a nursery not knowing what a plumeria is. Sheeesh! So Stemn, please send me your mailing address. Oh and Jane and Gill, you too! Lauri...See MoreI got 'the look' from this guy
Comments (5)Yeah, he does. Or maybe he's looking intently to see if you are going give him a handout. Amazing how those little critters can survive the winter....See More- 4 years ago
