2nd year plants that are blooming this year(pics)
Comments (6)So glad you posted these pics. I am growing Verbascum Milkshke this year (got the seeds in a trade) and I have great germination. It's good to know it's height. I am also growing 3 types of Rose campion - fuschia, white, and angel's blush so they should should be beautiful together. I am told they are biennials and will bloom the second year, but the fuschia and white are such great re-seeders you will probably never be without them. Nice photos....See MoreDavid Austin Shrub Rose - Gabriel Oak (1st year - 2nd flush)
Comments (34)Hi Caroline, I think I live quite near you. I look forward to reading your posts and experiences with David Austin roses since we are pretty much in the same zone. Like you, I hope I live long enough to see all my Austins grow and thrive since I am a latecomer with my addiction for them. I have a large rose garden that finally, just this year has begun to reward us for all our very hard work. I had a thriving crop of thistle that has taken us 12 years to overcome but we won the battle. We have very heavy clay soils and have been hauling trailer loads of horse manure compost in every few weeks to help. We see wonderful results. Maybe we can meet in person one day and share our love of roses....See MoreFloribunda Tree Rose - Double Easy Orange (1st year - 2nd flush)
Comments (8)Hello Hoang Ton, how is your beautiful Double Easy Orange doing for you this spring? Could we have some more gorgeous photos? What is the width of your rose now? HMF says 2 feet wide, but I think it gets wider than that. Have you tried growing DEO in the ground yet? Thanks, Diane...See MoreHybrid Tea Rose - Grande Dame (2nd year - 2nd flush)
Comments (3)I just visited the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden this last weekend. I was looking for which rose bushes met these criteria: Super healthy, very pretty, lovely fragrance. Hands down -- Grande Dame won the prize. And this was August! I was so impressed with the bushes in San Jose, I'm on the Heirloom website now to see if I can order one! Your roses look gorgeous, @Hoang Ton - Zone 9a!...See MoreDiane Brakefield
