parts made in china now....that activity signals the end of the fridge's life is nearing. I was amazed when recently in an appliance store they said,,,even the expensive fridges get 10 yrs......12 or 13 yrs if lucky. if people can skip the ice maker water dispenser and get an appropriate size to be nearly full most of the time [ that holds the cold] then you can press the luck a little more. Mine will be 14 yrs this summer and I'm nervous . I havent had any problems or service calls but w supply probs I dont want to replace right now. I guess you are at the mercy of the management. I wonder if they have some in storage or get quick ship,you might ask, If its noisy and cycles all day long it is irritating. Tell them .they are obliged to have things in working order as part of your lease.

Maybe if I cleaned the back a little bit to remove all the dust. Would that work?

proceed at your own risk. they should have a maintenance schedule..and things like that done before you moved in. I seriously doubt a one person apt would cause stirring up dust enough to cause what you describe. Maybe with Covid and lax management they did not tend to things. You should be able to inquire...you have renters rights.

Has the compressor duty cycle changed from the initial characteristics, or did you perhaps not consciously notice the cycling then but do now? Are the freezer and fresh food temperatures being maintained at properly?

If it has a fan that pulls air in at one side of toekick and blows it out the other side, then the condensor coil is beneath, behind the toekick. That design collects dust on front of the coil where the air is pulled in, which can impair the airflow. If not, then it may be on the back (sometimes called a bedspring coil), which design doesn't collect much dust since there's no fan or forced airflow involved.

If it's an apartment where you pay rent go to the rental office and submit a work order.
