Would appreciate advice on new Citrus, HLB?
Comments (8)Hmm, so this is the response that I received. While I've experienced leaf die off in the past from repotting/stress it didn't look like this, but I'm no expert. "Thank you for contacting us.... very much appreciated and thank you for the pictures. You do not have Citrus Greening. Everyone of our trees are inspected by the USDA and you should have a certificate with your order. If the yellowing is occuring on the bottom of the tree as shown this is normal. The lower leaves often will turn yellow and eventually drop. If there is extensive yellowing on the upper limbs then you would have an issue. Citrus trees will drop and replinish there leaves in about an 18 month cycle. The older leaves can also have a more leathery texture while the younger leaves/new growth will not. " I sent the a picture of one of the yellowing leaves at the top of the plant, but I'm not at home right now and only have pictures that are on my laptop. The lighter green leaves at the top of the plant does resemble a deficiency(iron maybe?), but the other leaves look like HLB to me. I looked at many different symptom picures and identification keys before posting here, but I'll admit I'm not expert....See MoreI'm So Stuck - Can You Help? Please??????
Comments (21)I really want to thank you all for your help and suggestions - you really motivated me and I'm putting your thoughts to good use! This afternoon I started painting and moving a few things into her room. I choose Meadowbrook by Ace for the walls and immediately fell in love. So much so that I called DH at work to tell him. I snapped a few pics for you to see even though the walls were still wet in some places. While painting I decided that the accent color would definitely be soft pinks and red raspberry shades. Meadowbrook wall paint. I think that the wall color looks wonderful w/ the maple wood furniture and love how it plays w/ the crisp white trim. Meadowbrook is 2 shades darker than Woodlawn (which is my MBR wall color) and is the closest match (w/o colormatching) to F&B's Pale Powder. I am definitley going to do the white IKEA curtains doubled up as someone suggested in their post! I'm going to try matchstick blinds layered underneath to pick up the wood tones in the furniture. Like I said - this room gets blinding light. Do you think that pink and berry accents will work w/ this wall color? After reading some of the thoughts about kids possibly being creeped out by staring owl eyes I went back and looked at the James Brown art and came up w/ some of these prints. Any catch your fancy for the room?: Here is a close up of the bedskirt and the pillows have a small ruffle of the same check for a border.: I found a small old wooden birdcage in the basement that I thought I could spraypaint white or berry and put butterflies and birds in and hang in a corner. Lame? I still really like the 'foresty' idea and thought I could run w/ it in an 'Enchanted Forest' girlie way (not a Harry Potter way). I can get her a white stuffed owl for her bed! Crazy thought - tell me if I'm taking it too far - What about painting the bureau a soft pink or raspberry color? Too much? Oh - and my mom called today to say that she found the sweetest antique childs rocker for $15 that she bought for her!...See MorePlease tell me what brand & color paver to use, I'm so confused
Comments (2)shelly 2, I see your questions going unanswered so I respond with just an observation. Sometime activity spawns more activity/responses. I think color is very personal and hard to given anything more than standard "color wheel" advice. I think: If you like it, buy it! If you're having trouble visualizing, then I'm with you. Colors on the micro-level (chips) and the macro-level (house, rooms, floors.....) sometimes don't match up in my eye. Good luck, and given your insights already shared I'm sure you do just fine following what you like in colors. As for brand, I have even less to share, I have some pavers that were installed by my "deck guy" about 15 years ago and they're holding up fine. I don't know anything about them other than to say they have an old soft look, and are red/earth tones. They get heavy foot traffic and regardless of their "soft" look, they look as good as when installed, to my poor memory....See MoreGot screwed by bad lawn advice so I joined Houzz - any good advice?
Comments (16)@joe - that was a fun thread to read, thanks for sharing. JC in that thread chose to start this healing process in mid-July but I didn't find the reason of his timing. Given the condition of the grass (mostly like the first pic in thread), and where I am (east coast, Toronto), with weather right now being around 40F at night and 70F during the day, with showers throughout the week, which month should I be starting the same process JC took? @mishmosh - ok cool this makes me at ease, I have the core aeration and fertilizers scheduled within the next 4 weeks @shivece - just signed up to a lawn service, surprisingly not nearly as expensive as I thought given other type of contractors cost thousands even for small jobs in GTA. The challenge now is coordinating my own efforts with the lawn service because I found out that even the best lawn services in our area does things in batch, not tailored towards specific houses. They schedule things based on optimal business operations. @charpell - makes sense, what's interesting is that no one in the neighborhood seem to water their lawn where I live, I never saw a sprinkler or manual watering, just cutting and fertilizers. Last year was the first time we were in the house so I thought it was just me not knowing what people normally do around here to keep the lawn healthy but this year I observed enough to see I was the oddball for sure...See Morespammie
