Mission Impossible? Teas in 4 hours of sun?
Comments (20)Diane, up here in western coastal Washington, I grow some teas, Madame Berkley, Lady Hillingdon, Le Vesuve and Devoniensis. Oh, and Melanie Willermoz. Compared to growing them in the south, it is excruciatingly slow, but I am cautiously encouraged. I tried Madame Berkley because of Cass Bernstein's comment that it does better in cooler weather. Lady Hillingdon because it is rated 6b and so I thought maybe more accepting of cooler conditions. The others because I had them with me. Of all of them, Le Vesuve has done the best, I think. I put it next to Tuscany (what an odd pairing) but I really though LV would stay very small. But it is growing pretty well so will soon be fighting for space with Tuscany. Devoniensis is the slowest but I think it is just slow anyway. None have mildewed, despite the wet and cool temps, in the two to three years they've been in the ground. Not much bloom, either, but as I said, I am cautiously encouraged. One very cold winter, Dev and MWillermoz froze to the ground, but they both came back. We're rated 8a or 8b but the weather is wild sometimes. Like everywhere, I guess. My casualties have been G. Nabonnand and Enchantress. The Enchantress bush did fine but the blooms always balled so I sp'd it. I have put mine in as warm and sunny a spot as I have; I didn't expect much but it's okay so far. My mom has lived in Daly City and Half Moon Bay so I am kind of familiar with where you are. Foggy. I am curious as to what happens with your tea roses if you decide to plant some, so please update! Comments (44)Happy birthday, Dee Marie! Hope it's a wonderful birthday. It's finally cold here after weeks of being in the 70's and 80's. The temp is actually dropping this morning. It's now 25 degrees and very windy here in north Texas. But, it's also about time. QOD: I've got lots of picking up, then cleaning, to do, and laundry as always. My last day of work is Monday. I have such mixed feelings about things right now. The parents have been so sweet, but the children are being awful which will actually make it a little easier to go. LOL I have a dr.'s appt. on Tuesday for my pre-op workup, dentist appt. Wed., and helping son move into his first home on Thursday. NHSuzanne, I think it's great that your dh is bonding with the new donkey. Raeanne, I hope the PT works out as you hope. Sounds so ambitious to me. Marci, we had our Valentine party on the Friday before the actual day, sugared them up, then sent them home for the weekend. Tuesday, I brought heart cookies and they each had one. It was a very nice day. Donna, we're going to try to see "Last Holiday" this weekend, too. Hope we all like it. Joanne, sending good thought and ((((hugs))) for you and your dear mom. Zig, being without power is the pits, isn't it? Once we were w/o it during a January ice storm, and I had to finally break down and take a shower and shampoo my dirty hair. It was pure misery, but I had to keep a dentist appt. since the ice had melted, so had no choice. Tikanas, how is your knee now? My knee-replacement surgery may be delayed so that they can attempt some in-office procedure on my other knee so that it's in good shape to see me through. Hi, Maddie, BJ, and Happyto! I miss reading y'all's interesting posts. Happyto, please start posting here. It's such good therapy, and you are such a neat person to read. Take care and stay warm, everyone!...See MoreDon't forget! Survivor is 2 episodes tonight!
Comments (14)Finally watched the 2nd half last night. I was glad to see the Godfather get blind sided... always like a good blindside! lol I think the remaining casts are a lot better physically matched now that the big guys are all out. Gabby bugs me - always crying over something stupid. Carl didn't talk to me wah wah wah. There's Christian comforting her and making sure she is ok. And the previews showing she wants to get him out? OMG! That made me so mad! What a traitor. I always like when a STRONG player wins - the ones who ride coattails and get to the end make me so mad. Gabby would be one of those. I hope her plan gets back to Christian and backfires on her!...See MoreTWO hours of Survivor tonight!
Comments (27)It was very disgusting. How dare they play that card then back off and say oh we were just kidding! They weren't kidding when they were telling kellee about what had happened to them! Right now I would like for Missy and the Olympic woman Elizabeth to get kicked out. And Dan needs to admit what he did, it's on film! And face the consequences. I hate what Janet and kellee have gone through. I loved that Jeff would not back down as Dan kept urging to drop it and Jeff said never going to happen!...See More- 4 years ago
