To dark of a paint color for a dining room?
Comments (5)So the wall color will be that gray at the top and the ceiling is already SW Alabaster? The way it looks on my screen, those two colors don't look right together at all. The Alabaster is much warmer/creamier. I think if you're going to go gray you'll need a cooler ceiling tone. Or switch to a much warmer gray for the walls. I don't think the color will be too dark at all with the amount of white trim you will have....See MoreAtmospheric/ moody game room design
Comments (11)How about instead of having the picture of the birch trees you do a wall paper of a forest with a bit more moody of a woods look. IMO the birch trees aren't really in your theme. https://www.walmart.com/ip/wall26-Landscape-Mural-of-a-Misty-Forest-Wall-Mural-Removable-Sticker-Home-Decor-100x144-inches/452341012?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=17094&adid=22222222227261913062&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=311410910364&wl4=pla-565132199483&wl5=9031536&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=120801468&wl11=online&wl12=452341012&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvZiLtpGg5gIVAcJkCh0iDgTIEAQYAiABEgLPqvD_BwE https://www.muralswallpaper.com/wall-murals/forest-wallpaper-murals/...See MoreWhat color to paint dark wainscotted dining room?
Comments (12)Yes, sage green, but lighter than the border of your rug. Also plan to replace the rug with something lighter in color and use very light color fabrics for the runner on the buffet and one on the table. Also, the centerpiece on the table should be white or off-white. I'd also put something white or ivory on the buffet (candelsticks and/or a vase with white flowers.)...See Moredark dining room I want to make fantastic
Comments (67)I've read all the comments and I can understand all the different points of view. I like both light and airy and dark and moody. I like painted paneling and stained paneling. What I don't understand is why someone would buy a home, especially a Tudor, and then want to completely change it. My husband hates Tudors, so when we looked for a home, we stayed away from them. I don't care for ranches, high ranches, split levels, "splanches," or modern (midcentury or otherwise) either. But I respect anyone who does like those types of homes and wouldn't ever buy one and then try to make it into something it's not. I like classic Colonials, Craftsman bungalows, Shingle style or old farmhouses. So we bought a 1920s Colonial Revival as our primary residence and built a Shingle style vacation home. It makes decorating so much easier when you go with the original design style of the home. But I also understand that sometimes you don't have a choice. You need a home and that's the only one available in your preferred area because of good schools, proximity to work or transportation, etc. People seem to move around a lot these days--from reading the design dilemmas on Houzz it seems as if no one stays in a house for more than a few years. So if you don't like the original style of the home, why not go with it until you can move to a home whose style you like better? And then sell it to someone who can appreciate the house's style and pedigree? Just my thoughts....See Moreeastautumn
