My living room was initially lavender....I freaked... and added an extra coat.... I freaked again and just tried my best to paint the greige or breige into those walls. I gave up in disbelief...MY.ROOM.IS.NOW.PINKISH.PURPLE. Fortunately, the problem vanished with four completely dry walls. The color so neutral I can redo this room with absolutely any design or fabric or carpet or special item and it adapts to mix and match with every color imaginable. Love it. The room I chose has challenging light shifts, but Pale Oak meets every shift in light with reliable neutrality. You will be able to be very creative with all added elements in a room painted this shade!

Thank you. On my monitor that looks pretty gray. I’m looking for a warm light tan/beige color. The room I’m painting does not get much light. I’m looking for a non gray color.

We finished our #2 grade red oak installation stained with Rubio monocoat smoke 5%. Here is a photo with the unfinished #2 red oak on left and the 25 year old dining room floor (smaller planks) on right. Overall, I love the smoked effect of the Rubio! I do regret not getting something a bit more dramatic in color though like a white or a darker brown. The redder planks of oak still look pinkish. I thought that the green of the 5% smoke would soften the pink. We will be installing the same oak in the other sitting room and kitchen and I would like to try a whiter shade or a darker shade to try and mask some of the pink. (I didn't waterpop and maybe that could have added a more opaque effect from the smoke 6%). Advice please: I bought UMO to add the extra level of protection and sheen. Tomorrow will be the 36hr curing time from the smoke 5% 2c to apply UMO. Should I just save the UMO for when we do the other rooms in a year or so? Is is possible to blend this smoke 5% floor with a new floor done with a different shade (a whiter or more medium brown shade)? Can a new shade be applied over this smoke 5% or should the floor be sanded? Thanks!

You can compare them using their measurable colour attributes - see other examples at The Land of Color .com Many people will describe Pale Oak as a warm ’greige’ kind of colour. But worth noting, due-to its Hue Family location, (in close proximity to the Yellow-Red Hue Family) you may at times get a peachiness to Pale Oak. Also because of it’s location, near neutral colours from this neighbourhood can be prone to shifting purpleish in lighting which spikes more in the blue-violet wavelengths. You aren’t going to know how it will behave for you unless you test in your space. (2 coats x board so you may move them around into sunlight AND shadow.) Paper White is from the Green-Yellow Hue Family. Lots of people might desribe it just as a very light, ‘neutral’ grey. But because of its Hue Family you may get a few flashes of its inherent greenness in certain situations. (not every setting) Also very low Chroma, (near neutral) colours, from this Hue Family neighbourhood can be prone to colour shifting blue in imbalanced lighting. Again, to be sure of how it will behave in your setting, requires testing. But to get the ball rolling you can use the above infographics to answer these questions, Which is lighter? Which is darker? Which is more colourful? Which is more neutral? Which reflects more light? 🌈
